Mission and Objectives- Red Cross
The Mission of the Indian Red Cross Society is to prevent and alleviate suffering with complete impartiality, making no discrimination as to nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs, language, class or political opinions. For this purpose, its task is in particular:
1) To act in case of armed conflict and in peace to prepare to act in all the fields covered by the Geneva Conventions within the scope of International Humanitarian Law and behalf of all war victims, both civilian and military;
2) To contribute to the improvement of health, the prevention of disease and maternity and child care in the community.
3) To educate the population on how to prepare for and respond to disaster;
4) To organize emergency relief services for the victims of disasters and mitigation of their suffering.
5) To promote the participation of children and youth in the work of the Red Cross;
6) To promote the Fundamental Principal of the movement and the International Humanitarian Law in order to inculcate humanitarian ideals among the population, and in particular among children and youth;
7) To recruit, train and develop volunteers/personnel as necessary for undertaking humanitarian responsibilities;
8) To serve the community within its jurisdiction, the state branch may initiate activities to address local needs and priorities as approved by the Managing Body of the branch; and
9) To ensure correct use of the Red Cross emblem, to maintain its protective value.
NGO MANAGEMENT – POST GRADUATE PROFESSIONAL COURSE
(One year full time)
Admission from 27th July 2016
Session from September 2016.
ELIGIBILITY:
Graduate degree in Arts/ Science/ Commerce/ Business Administration/ Engineering / Pharmacy or equivalent course from any University.
Pursuing graduate final year can apply and get admission but, before end of 4th trimester have to submit clearance of graduate degree.

PAPER – II - FOUNDATIONS OF SOCIOLOGY AND NGO
PAPER – III - SOCIAL WORK AND DEVELOPMENT WORK & ADMINISTRATION
PAPER – IV - FORMATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF NGOs
PAPER – V - MANAGERIAL COMMUNICATION AND DEVELOPMENT
PAPER – VI - RESEARCH, PROJECT PROPOSAL & BUDGETING, PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT
PAPER – VII - NGOs, FUNDING AGENCIES AND SCHEMES; DISASTER MANAGEMENT & EMERGENCY SERVICES
PAPER – VIII - DISSERTATION / PROJECT REPORT
COURSE SCHEDULE :
One year of four trimesters
1st trimester – September to November, Examination in the month December;
2nd trimester – December to February, Examination in the month March;
3rd trimester – March to May, Examination in the month June;
4th trimester – June to August, Seminar and Examination in the month August.
OPPORTUNITIES :
· On completion of the course, the students may attend the Specialized Training Course (two weeks) on the following subjects :
A) Training of Trainers;
B) Survey, Monitoring and Evaluation;
C) Team Building and Supervision;
D) Health & Nutrition and Child Development;
E) First Aid – Senior Professional;
· Campus interview will be arranged as per available opportunities and requirement placed by other organizations.
· Suitable excellent performing candidates will be placed directly in the organization based on available vacancy.
· Suitable good performing willing candidates will be placed as ‘Intern’ in the organization with stipend for one year.
· Opportunities and supports system available if the passed out candidates willingly form group to establish NGOs / CBOs and its functioning.
· Opportunities for ‘on job training’ available on voluntary basis for experiences.
HOW TO GET ADMISSION:
Admission Form along with prospectus will available from specified date of July at office of the Red Cross Bhaban, Chandannagar with paying Rs.50/- (fifty only) by cash.
The candidates will get Admission in the course from same date of July by -
1. Submitting filled-up specified ‘Admission Form’ appropriately,
2. Four copies of stamp size(2.5cm.x3cm.) photos,
3. Copies of Certificates/ Mark sheets of the Secondary, Higher Secondary and Graduation Examinations, and
Paying admission fees and 1st trimester charges
