Event Brief: The Post Graduate Diploma in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme is conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). It is a leading institute in the country imparting quality education in the realm of social sciences and the development sector. This unique course, conducted at Tuljapur Campus, comprehensively focusing on water sanitation and hygiene has been crafted to produce a fresh squad of professionals every year in the WASH sector. The course was framed by combined efforts of UNICEF, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of Maharashtra, Civil Society Organizations and other Non-Government Organizations.

Event Description:
The WASH programme prepares human service professionals with a unique blend of social sensitivity and professional excellence that meets global standards. The aim of this course is to create a group of professionals who can bridge the gap between the government and the community to plan and implement sustainable solutions. Four batches have since completed the course and are successfully engaged in employment with various reputed NGOs, agencies, and government departments.
 
The Course Programme
  • The 5th Batch is conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Tuljapur Campus with the technical support of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
  • This interdisciplinary programme is designed to impart all round professional skills related to water, sanitation, health and hygiene.
  • Students of previous batches are working with reputed organizations such as UNICEF, Water Aid, Save the Children, IPE Global, Development Alternative, WASSAN, XIDAS, LEPRA, PHFI, TISS, various State Governments and NGOs.
  • Under the ‘WASH Young Professionals’ programme jointly initiated by TISS and UNICEF, currently  15 students  from previous batch are  working as  Young  Professional at various UNICEF offices across  India. 
Eligibility
Any Bachelor Degree: Students of social science and humanities, natural sciences, health sciences, civil engineering, environmental science, management or other equivalents can also apply (for details, please refer the information brochure).
 
Selection Procedure
The selection of candidates is based on merit as judged by their performance in written test and interview conducted by the Institute.
