Centre India is delighted to announce the launch of the Mittal Institute India Fellowship 2022/2023 to host 1-2 Postdoctoral scholars in India for one calendar year. As a fellow, scholars will have the opportunity to avail Harvard’s vast resources to contribute to self-driven, independent research. Applicants from any discipline are encouraged to apply, provided their studies are focused on, or connected with, India.
 
The Mittal Institute India Fellowship is meant for recent postdoctoral scholars who have completed their studies in the last five years. For this year’s application cycle, applicants must have obtained their Ph.D. between 1st May 2017, and 14th May 2022. Those who have not had opportunities in the past to access Harvard’s resources and who have primarily been educated at institutions in India will be
prioritized.
 
Fellows are expected to reside in New Delhi (India) or in its vicinity for the duration of the fellowship to actively participate in the events and intellectual life of the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, India. Participation includes grant review, hosting seminars, and engaging with Harvard faculty and affiliates. Fellows will be mentored by a Harvard faculty member in their area of research. The research produced will be widely disseminated for public benefit in India.
 
The Fellowship begins on 1st September 2022 and offers a stipend of INR 1,00,000 per month for the Fellowship period (one calendar year). This amount is to cover living costs, medical allowance, books, and research materials during the Fellowship period. For candidates outside of New Delhi, economy travel expenses for a round-trip from the recipient’s home to New Delhi will also be provided.
 
Through the course of the year, the fellowship will provide an enriching experience by facilitating an exchange of ideas with Harvard faculty members. Access to Harvard library resources will provide
necessary research materials to the fellows, thus enabling them to produce high-level research outputs, including the publication of a research paper.
