Action for Food Production (AFPRO) is a socio-technical organization working for the upliftment of the rural poor through effective natural resource management. It works in the areas of Agriculture, Food Security, Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation, Watershed Management, Natural Resource Management and Climate Change. AFPRO is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 (Punjab Amendment) Act 1957 as extended to Delhi.

Mission Statement: AFPRO dedicates itself for alleviating rural poverty, through partnerships, networking and collaborations with like-minded Institutions, with a focus on enabling the marginalized and weaker sections of the Society.

Position: AFPRO having its Head Office at New Delhi requires Civil Engineer for Lanjigarh, Kalahandi District, Odisha with the following requirements.

Educational Qualification: Graduate/Post Graduate in Civil Engineering or any other relevant discipline.

Experience: The above position requires minimum 5-7 years of experience in development sector. Should have in depth technical expertise and work experience in Water sector – Soil and water conservation, Agriculture and Natural Resource Management and Project Management.

Job Description:

The candidate will be required to lead a multidisciplinary team for effective planning, execution and monitoring of projects related to NRM. An understanding of projects and policies related to Rural Development supported by Government, Corporate groups and International agencies.

The above position may require extensive travel to project locations.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Site Survey and identification of suitable water conservation and water harvesting interventions
• Prepare drawing, design and detailed estimate for water conservation and water harvesting measures and all engineering structures Conduct Participatory Rural Appraisal/Rapid Rural Appraisal, meeting with village leaders, etc.
• Develop strategy and carry out the process of project implementation at village level in coordination with team members.
• Preparation of overall strategic plan, basis local context for the respective project and continuously reviewing the same.
• Liaison with the relevant government agencies, village leaders and GPs
• Guide and support project team for developing survey formats, data collection methodology and data analysis
• Perform data analysis and generate accurate required data information in the prescribed format
• Conducts regular field visits to monitor and verify the programs 'progress and impact, understand the challenges and needs of stakeholders, and suggest appropriate solutions.
• Follow plan, processes and inputs/suggestions for improvising the project outcomes
• Time to time evaluation and quality control of the ongoing projects.
• Coordination with funding partners relevant team members for full filling the project requirements
• Coordination with Funding partner, State/Central Department and other relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of the project. Time to time reporting, presentation & documentation. Prepares quality monthly and quarterly donor programmatic reports, coordinate with concerned Program, Finance and other department for finalizing and sharing the report on time.
• Any other task assigned by Regional Manager-North.

Additional skills:

• The applicant must be mature with good public relations, team building, resilient and motivated.
• Good communication and presentation skills in English and Hindi.
• Liaison with, community organizations and Resources Organizations – build and strengthen relationships.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Should be a good team player with multi-tasking ability.
