Parmarth Samaj Sevi Sansthan is a grass root organization dedicated to water crisis mitigation in water stressed Bundelkhand region of UP & MP since 1996 with an aim to bring qualitative improvement and changes in lives of the vulnerable people. Parmarth’s strength is its strong community connect and its commitment for the betterment of downtrodden society. Parmarth works with various stakeholders; institutions, corporate entities, the government, local communities, and individuals to provide timely interventions in water conservation, environment protection, village development, sustainable agriculture, river rejuvenation, sanitation & waste management, women empowerment, education, and skill development.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with cluster teams, field staff, and community mobilizers to ensure timely completion of activities related to establishment of water schools, Jal Saheli participation, and implementation of Water Use Master Plans (WUMP)/Water Security Plans across Gram Panchayats in the block/district.
- Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the District Administration, relevant government departments, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution and approvals.
- Align project activities with various government schemes, including JJM, Atal Bhujal Yojana, SBM, and others, to maximize convergence and achieve project objectives efficiently.
- Organize and conduct capacity-building sessions, trainings, and workshops for Village Water & Sanitation Committees (VWSCs)/Pani Samitis, Pani Panchayats, Gram Panchayat personnel, and community members on water management, hygiene, and governance.
- Supervise accurate and timely field data collection, monitor project progress indicators, and prepare parallel reports for the Program/Project Manager, supported by photographs, videos, and evidence-based documentation.
- Identify and assess suitable sites for the revival, renovation, or construction of traditional rainwater harvesting structures, such as ponds, check dams, and stop dams, in coordination with technical experts and communities.
- Support gender mainstreaming by promoting active involvement of Jal Sahelis and women in decision-making processes and field activities.
- Facilitate community mobilization and formation/strengthening of local institutions like Water User Associations and VWSCs using participatory tools.
- Monitor field-level implementation, conduct regular site visits, resolve operational challenges, and ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of activities, meetings, trainings, and stakeholder engagements at the district level.
- Assist in preparing consolidated progress reports, case studies, and success stories for submission to the Project Manager, donors, and government authorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with block-level officials, PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions), and line departments for effective convergence.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, including gender equity, child protection, and environmental safeguards.
- Support skill development initiatives and livelihood linkages for women and youth in water-related activities.
- Represent the organization in district-level meetings, reviews, and coordination forums.
Eligibility criteria
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Water Management, or related fields.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in coordination roles within the NGO sector, preferably in WASH, rural development, or community-based water programs.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with district administration and implementing government schemes like JJM, SBM, or Atal Bhujal Yojana.
- Strong knowledge of participatory approaches, community institution building, and rainwater harvesting techniques.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills; proficiency in [local language] and English/Hindi.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the district and work in rural settings.
