The programme aims to transition from isolated Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) installations to a comprehensive, multi-intervention “Water Smart School” model. The programme integrates RWH enhancement, greywater reuse, groundwater recharge, water-use efficiency measures, and sustained behaviour change aligned with Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) principles and ABB’s 6R framework

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Implementation & Coordination:
• Support end-to-end implementation of the Water Stewardship Programme across government schools in Nelamangala and Peenya.
• Coordinate site-level execution of water interventions including RWH enhancement, greywater reuse systems, groundwater recharge/soak pits, and installation of tap aerators and flow restrictors.
• Liaise with engineers, contractors, school authorities, and local stakeholders to ensure timely, safe, and technically sound implementation.

Baseline Assessment & Technical Support:
• Support school profiling and baseline assessments, including mapping of water sources, usage patterns, wastewater flows, and existing infrastructure.
• Assist in identifying school-specific technical feasibility and customised intervention packages.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, maintenance feasibility, and contextual suitability of all installations.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Documentation:
• Support structured monitoring through monthly site visits, technical checklists, and system functionality assessments.
• Track water savings, groundwater recharge estimates, and operational performance of installed systems.
• Support mid-term and annual evaluations, including before–after comparisons of water use and system effectiveness.
• Assist in preparing quarterly, mid-year, and annual technical and narrative reports, including school-wise water balance documentation and case studies.

Capacity Building & Behaviour Change:
• Support establishment and facilitation of Student Water Clubs and student-led stewardship activities.
• Assist in organising teacher workshops and demonstrations on water stewardship practices and technologies.
• Support integration of water-use behaviour change activities within school routines and calendars.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement:
• Coordinate consultations with School Management Committees (SMCs), local bodies, and community stakeholders.
• Support awareness sessions on water conservation, groundwater recharge, and long-term system maintenance.
• Promote shared ownership and sustainability of interventions beyond the project period.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in water management, water stewardship, WASH, infrastructure-linked sustainability projects, or development sector programmes.
• Prior experience working with schools, government institutions, or community-based water projects is desirable.
• Exposure to Rainwater Harvesting, greywater reuse, recharge structures, or water audits will be an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:
• Strong coordination and field implementation skills across multiple schools and interventions.
• Ability to work with technical drawings, basic measurements, checklists, and monitoring formats.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for documentation, reporting, and tracking project milestones ((spreadsheets, shared drives, basic trackers).
• Strong organisational, follow-up, and reporting skills.
• Ability to balance technical understanding with community and school-level engagement.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project locations.

Language Requirements:
• Proficiency in Kannada and English is required.
• Working knowledge of Hindi is desirable.

Strategic Importance of the Role: The role requires strong ownership, coordination, and accountability to ensure the effective functioning, long-term sustainability, and replicability of the Water Smart School model across project locations.

Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
