GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POST:
There is a broad scope to this post within Sense International India. In line with strategic plans and policy guidelines of Sense International India, the person will work under the Lead Training – Capacity Building in planning, implementation and monitoring of agreed capacity building objectives within organisation and project partners. S/he will also participate in and contribute towards development of wider institutional strategy. Apart from the above roles, the post holder will have an opportunity to increase their skills and develop the job.
JOB PURPOSE
The position requires planning, developing, and executing online and offline capacity building contents and monitoring quality of trainings within the organisation. The position also necessitates building capacity of partner organisations by supporting through content knowledge, training and skill building activities and within the organisation so as to be the knowledge leader in the field of deafblindness.
A. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Organisation Capacity Building related activities
- Managing online learning management system (LMS) as per the course and batches
- Follow up with partner organisations for the enrolment of candidates and also within the team for advertising the online courses
- Managing schedule of the online sessions for the online course and follow up with faculties/speakers
- Undertake sensitisation/training sessions on deafblindness and multiple disabilities for wide range of stakeholders through online/offline mode
- Support in developing, organising, and coordinating appropriate training courses modules
- Compile, develop, and design appropriate training manuals, course descriptions, and training curricula for other related organisations
- Have good communication and correspondence skills with the participants of online courses.
- To moderate online courses & sessions efficiently.
- Monitor and review the outcome and impact of various online/offline capacity building programmes
- Support in developing capacity building strategy of the organisation
- Document and report various capacity building activities including online courses
- Contribute to regular case studies of persons with deafblindness, parents/caregivers and special educators from project partners
- Support in research work in the field of deafblindness and Multi-sensory impairment
- Extend support to Public Engagement (PE) vertical to plan, execute sign language and other employee engagement activities through physical/online mode.
- To interpret during online/offline meetings, trainings, conferences in sign language or tactile sign language.
Working with Partners on Deafblindness Content and Capacity Building
- Identifying training needs of an organisation through appropriate mechanism and regular consultation with partners and stakeholders
- Support partner organisation in developing appropriate training packages
- Hands on training to persons with deafblindness, educators/field staff at project sites on need based deafblindness content issues
- Actively support persons with deafblindness in identifying and participating in a wide range of enjoyable, stimulating and purposeful activities that make for a good quality of life
- Follow up with partners with online/offline training, materials, literature, action plan and other partner support activities related to deafblindness content ? Document and report exchanges among field staff in partner organisations
Other requirements
- Support report writing by providing appropriate and timely information across the organisation
- Collate and draft content matter for in-house publications
- Respond appropriately to requests on content issues made to the organisation.
- Support in monitoring and evaluation of training services of other agencies and partners (qualitative and quantitative)
- Coordinate with team members and other departments on content issues
- Follow up with the team members for advertising the online courses
- Provide content support to the networks of adult persons with deafblindness, their families and teachers
- Support in overall administration and smooth functioning of office
- Maintain a data base of training requirements and courses conducted and designed including records of candidates of all the online courses
- Support in annual training and event calendar for Sense International India based on both organisational and partner needs
- Willingness to learn to communicate with persons with deafblindness
- Any other work as agreed with line manager
B. PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Ideally a graduate and having diploma on Indian Sign Language or higher education background in the field of disability such as in Deafblindness and Hearing Impairment.
- Preferably have prior experience of providing training in Indian Sign Language (ISL) to various stake holders
- Should have experience of organising trainings programmes in association with various partners
- Should have fluent knowledge of Indian Sign Language (ISL) and Sign language culture
- Having prior experience of interpreting meetings/trainings/conferences in Indian Sign Language is preferable.
- Willing to travel 6-8 days a month within India
- Able to analyse data and situations and adopt effective course of action
- Relate and interact successfully with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
- Operate a computer, MS Office programs, Google and relevant online applications
- Takes initiative and offers new ideas
- Keep up to date developments in the field by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses
Desirable Requirements
- Good interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels
- Written and spoken communication skills in Hindi and English, knowledge of regional language will be added advantage
- Problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Able to manage time and meet deadlines

- Good personal presentation
- Personal commitment to improving one's own knowledge and skills
