ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Step Up for India is a not-for-profit organization working to improve English language learning among children in vernacular-medium government schools across India. Founded in 2013, the organization designs and delivers structured, practical English programs that help children build foundational language skills, confidence, and independent learning abilities.
Working closely with education departments, school leaders, and teachers, Step Up for India strengthens classroom practices and expands equitable learning opportunities for children from under-resourced communities.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Field Coordinator will be responsible for the smooth implementation, monitoring, and quality execution of English language programs across government schools in assigned locations. The role involves close coordination with school leadership, teachers, block/district education officials, and internal program teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate with block and district education officials and school principals for planning, approvals, and scheduling
• Conduct regular school visits for classroom observations and field monitoring
• Provide constructive feedback, on-site mentoring, and continuous academic support to teachers
• Support baseline and endline assessments, including data collection, data entry, and verification
• Document weekly and monthly progress reports, field insights, challenges, and learnings
• Manage and track distribution of program and learning materials across schools
• Support planning and organization of teacher training sessions (online/offline) and maintain records
• Maintain operational documentation, expense records, and field data
• Plan and prioritize field activities to ensure timely and quality program delivery
• Act as a liaison between schools, education departments, and the central program team
ELIGIBILITY & SKILLS:
• Graduate in any discipline (Education / Social Sciences preferred)
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience (NGO or education sector experience preferred)
• Good communication skills in both Hindi and English
• Strong coordination, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
• Experience in teacher support, training, or classroom observation is an added advantage
• Comfortable using MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic digital tools
• Strong planning, reporting, and time-management skills
• Proactive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently in the field
• Willingness to travel extensively within assigned locations
