POSITION VACANT: Program Officer (Kolkata, India)
ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
Shreeja India is a non-profit, civil society organization working towards gender justice by empowering young village girls through sports-based education in India. Sports, mainly football is a powerful vehicle for social change in our programs. Our goal is to ensure that girls and young women belonging to deprived communities have access to quality sports-based education programs that support their physical and mental health development. Through these programs, Shreeja India aspires to stop school drop-outs, delay marriage, prevent human trafficking and impede domestic violence against women. Currently, the organization provides education and sports facilities to more than 1000 Tribal and other underprivileged girls in different districts of rural West Bengal.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Program Officer will drive Shreeja India’s village level programs, including its regular running and sustainability initiatives. The candidate will plan, implement and manage various out-of-school educational projects targeted at First Generation Learners. The candidate will also build and implement processes and procedures to evaluate and monitor direct and indirect outcomes/impacts of actions of all Shreeja India initiatives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Oversee effective management of Shreeja India’s sports-based development program
• Be responsible for strategic planning, progress reporting and monitoring & evaluation of impacts
• Write high-quality customized concept notes and project proposals
• Conduct and monitor survey design, administration and its implementation
• Build and nurture effective working relationships with the local authorities and other related agencies to facilitate the effective implementation of the program
• Conduct program budgeting and financial monitoring
• Prepare the budget based on detailed work plan and monitor project budgets regularly
• Supervise the village-level teams to manage the day-to-day operation of the programs.
• Prepare for the initial, mid-term and final evaluation of the program
• Represent Shreeja India at various national and international events for greater outreach
• Assist in other activities as and when assigned by the senior team members.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Post Graduate Degree in Social Science, Psychology or related subjects from a reputed educational institution.
Experience:
At least five years’ experience in social development sector is essential. Preference will be given to candidates working in the implementation of education, mental health, livelihood and women’s empowerment projects.

• Excellent proposal and report writing skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to motivate others and create a team environment
• Computer skills, advanced use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and the internet.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Demonstrated honesty and integrity of a high order
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Willingness to travel to districts of West Bengal
