B. Project Background
One Health is an approach that recognizes that the health of people, animals and our shared environment is closely connected. Therefore, an integrated, multisectoral response to current challenges is needed.
The ‘One Health and Agroecology’ project aims to strengthen the inter-sectoral and inter-institutional cooperation in India in order to reduce risks to human, animal and environmental health. It supports the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to do so in collaboration with other relevant ministries and additional stakeholders. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the One Health approach on the ground, the project contributes to the implementation of One Health measures, which also consider agroecological principles like input reduction and conservation of biodiversity, in Goa and Madhya Pradesh. In addition, the project supports the strengthening of capacities on several levels in collaboration with Indian training institutions as well as the collection, documentation, and dissemination of best practices.
C. Responsibilities
- Contributing to the implementation of the One Health and Agroecology project, especially the One Health Pilot Measure in Madhya Pradesh on Reducing the entry of deworming drug Albendazole into environment and food chain in order to protect biodiversity and human health, in accordance with project objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior.
- Giving conceptual and technical input for project activities in his/her line of work.
- Designing, organising, and documenting workshops, trainings, awareness activities, field visits, and other meetings.
- Preparing Terms of Reference (ToRs), training material, reports, knowledge products and other project documents.
- Providing translation and general administrative support to the project team as required.
D. Core Scope of Tasks
1. Contribute to the implementation of the One Health and Agroecology project, with focus on activities in Madhya Pradesh at state and district levels

- Assists the state-level coordinator and district teams in carrying out planned activities.
- Provides follow-up support to ensure timely execution of project interventions.
- Coordinates with local partners and stakeholders for smooth implementation.
2. Give conceptual and technical input for project activities in his/her line of work
The advisor
- Gives input for developing strategies and technical concepts for the implementation of a One Health approach within the scope of the project.
- Strengthens the capacities of project partners for inter-sectoral coordination and cooperation within the scope of a One Health approach.
3. Design, coordinate and document workshops, trainings, awareness activities, field visits, and other meetings
The advisor
- Supports in logistical and administrative preparation and scheduling of events.
- Coordinates participation of stakeholders, trainers, and community representatives.
- Helps in facilitation and minute-taking during meetings and workshops, in coordination with the state-level coordinator
- Engages with local communities to disseminate information through meetings and IEC material.
- Collects feedback from field-level awareness activities to improve future sessions.
- Drafts short reports on workshops, meetings, field visits, etc.
4. Prepare Terms of Reference (ToRs), training material, reports, knowledge products and other project documents
The advisor
- Drafts ToRs and supporting documents for consultancies, grants and procurements.
- Prepares and updates training materials and presentations.
- Prepares reports and background notes.
- Collects case studies, success stories, and field-level learnings and compiles them for project reporting and publication.
5. Provide translation and general administrative support as required
The advisor
- Translates documents, communication material, and training content from Hindi to English and vice versa.
- Prepares letters, and other administrative documents.
- Assists the state-level coordinator in day-to-day coordination and office tasks.
6. Other duties/ additional tasks
The advisor
- Performs other duties and tasks at the request of the project manager and state-level coordinator.
E. Required Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- Master’s degree in agriculture, veterinary medicine, sustainable rural development, or a related discipline, from a reputed institution.
- At least 7 years’ relevant professional experience in sustainable agriculture, natural farming, agroecology, livestock management, or similar areas.
- At least 5 years’ demonstrable experience of project implementation with ministries/state government and/or international organisations, as well as stakeholder management.
- At least 2 years’ experience in organising and facilitating trainings, workshops, and other events online and offline and for different audiences (local population/ farmers to decision makers at district and state level).
- Working experience in Madhya Pradesh, and especially the Sagar Region, is an asset.
- Knowledge of the One Health approach and the interrelations between agriculture, livestock production, the environment, and human health is required; previous professional experience in this field is an asset.
- Good knowledge regarding topics related to animal husbandry and animal diseases, including zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, is required; previous professional experience in this field is an asset.
- Good knowledge regarding topics related to food safety is required; previous professional experience in this field is an asset.
- Ability to translate technical content into easily understandable messages for diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multi-stakeholder processes efficiently and successfully.
- Knowledge of and practical experience in strategic communication is an asset.
- Experience in drafting ToR for consultancies and procurement as well as project reports is expected.
- Personal: Structured thinking and result-oriented activity planning. Ability to work independently with attention to detail and strong commitment to deadlines.
- Social: Good interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Sectoral: Good understanding of One Health, agroecology, and rural development issues.
- Teamwork: Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with ability to work constructively in a team. Willingness to take initiative.
- Excellent written and oral knowledge of English and Hindi is required.
- Excellent inter-personal, communication and networking skills.
- Proactive, self-organized and results oriented.
F. Location: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
G. Duration of the contract: until 31st March 2027, extension possible if project gets extended
