Cervical & Breast Cancer Prevention Program Overview -
Progressive Foundation aims to run targeted initiatives for cervical and breast cancer prevention focusing on community awareness, education, screening camps, and HPV vaccination advocacy to reduce fatal incidence in women. The program aims to elevate screening rates through counselling, early detection methods and outreach activities, especially in underserved areas of Uttar Pradesh. By mobilizing local communities and partnering with health officials, the foundation promotes healthy behaviors, early diagnosis, and preventive care to empower women’s health.
Role Summary
The Block Coordinator will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, implementation, supervision, and monitoring of cervical and breast cancer screening and awareness activities at the block level. The role ensures effective community outreach, quality screening services, streamlined logistics, and timely referral and follow-up mechanisms to strengthen early detection and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities :
Block-Level Planning & Implementation :
• Prepare and execute block-level micro-plans for screening and awareness activities in cervical and breast cancer prevention
• Coordinate with PHCs and CHCs for service delivery.
Screening Camp Coordination :
• Organize and manage screening camps including logistics for VIA and outreach activities.
• Ensure availability of supplies, staff and reporting tools.
Frontline Worker Support & Supervision :
• Train, mentor and support ASHAs, ANMs and community volunteers for household counseling, risk assessment and mobilization of eligible girls /women.
• Coordinate with block-level officials (MOIC, CDPO etc.) and community leaders to ensure smooth implementation of the program.
Referral & Follow-up Tracking :
• Facilitate referral of screen-positive cases to higher facilities and track follow-up and treatment initiation.
Community Awareness :
• Conduct and support community meetings and IEC activities to address myths and stigma related to cancer.
• Conduct and support vaccination awareness sessions at health centres and community platforms
• Train ANMs, ASHAs, and AWWs on awareness, screening, and referral support to health centres
• Provide on-ground handholding during VHSND sessions
Data Management & Reporting :
• Maintain accurate records of awareness sessions , screening and vaccination , beneficiaries and referrals using physical and digital tools
• Timely submission of all program related reports to the District Coordinator/Reporting Manager.
Flexibility & Support :
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or senior management in alignment with the project workplan
Travel :
• Extensive travel at block level
Qualifications & Experience :
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences or social work preferred .However, candidates from other educational stream with relevant experience and good track record are also welcome to apply
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in public health programs related to cervical and breast cancer prevention is preferred.
• Computer Literacy: Should have proficiency in MS-Office
• Mandatory : You should be in possession of a working laptop, smartphone with a two wheeler and a valid driving license
Compensation: INR 20,000 plus travel expense as per organizational policy
