Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) is a New Delhi based non-profit organisation with the vision of enhancing equitable student learning, especially language and literacy development, through professional development of teachers and teacher educators, building/sharing knowledge and implementing projects in collaboration with state governments. LLF is a system-focused and impact-driven organization dedicated to addressing the foundational learning crisis in collaboration with the national and state governments in India. Over the past 8 years, we have improved foundational learning outcomes of 850,000+ children and classroom processes of 2,50,000+ teachers and teacher educators across 8 states. Position Summary
The Manager (Strategy and Learning) will work closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership across the organisation. This is a high-agency role designed for individuals who can operate as strategic generalists stepping into diverse problem spaces and driving initiatives from concept to execution.
The role involves working across strategy, innovation, organisational priorities, and emerging initiatives. The Manager will be expected to take ownership of critical workstreams, solve complex and often ambiguous problems, and support the organisation in shaping and executing its next phase of growth. This role is ideal for individuals who are intellectually curious, adaptable, and comfortable navigating fluid environments where priorities evolve and new challenges emerge.
What success looks like in this role
This role is designed for individuals who can operate at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and execution. The Manager will be expected to take end-to-end ownership of high-priority strategic initiatives, translate organisational strategy into actionable pilots and workstreams, and play a key role in shaping LLF’s external voice and visibility.
The role is best suited for individuals who are comfortable navigating ambiguity, working across teams, and independently driving initiatives from concept to execution and learning.
Key responsibilities:
The Manager will work across a range of strategic and operational priorities depending on organisational needs. Responsibilities may include the following:
1. Strategy and Organisational Priorities
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape and execute key organisational priorities.
- Support development and execution of LLF’s strategic plans and operating roadmaps.
- Help translate strategy into actionable workstreams across teams.
- Support leadership decision-making through research, synthesis, and structured problem-solving.
- Track progress on high-priority initiatives and ensure alignment between intent and execution.
- Solving key strategic questions for the organization and helping the senior leadership build and develop LLF work areas.
- Creating and maintaining cross collaboration and integration between horizontal and verticals to enable leadership success
2. Innovation and New Initiatives
- Support the design and execution of new pilots, strategic bets, and emerging initiatives.
- Leading the edtech function and support
- Help develop concept notes, early-stage models, and implementation approaches.
- Work with program teams to test and refine new ideas.
- Capture learnings from pilots and feed insights back into strategy.
3. EdTech & Digital strategy
- Lead the evolution of LLF’s EdTech and digital initiatives, shaping how technology supports program scale and organisational effectiveness.
- Act as the strategic anchor for technology-enabled innovation across the organisation.
- Identify high-leverage opportunities where digital solutions can strengthen learning outcomes, program delivery, and internal systems.
- Guide the design and execution of technology initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure coherence across digital initiatives and alignment with organisational strategy.
4. Organisational Learning and Synthesis
- Identify cross-cutting insights across programs, states, and initiatives.
- Synthesise internal and external insights to inform organisational direction.
- Support development of strategy notes, internal briefs, and learning documents.
- Contribute to building strong internal learning loops.
5. External Engagement and Representation
- Support leadership in external engagements, partnerships, and strategic conversations.
- Contribute to presentations, concept notes, and external-facing materials.
- Help identify opportunities to showcase LLF’s work and insights.
- Represent the organisation in select forums where appropriate.
Qualification and experience:
- Master’s degree
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience and track record of high achievement with a background in either consulting, strategy or business development
- Experience working with Senior Management, and driving intrapreneurial projects.
Desired Qualities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in English and Hindi
- The operating style suited to working in a small-organization setting, where teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and presentation skills.
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
- Self-driven; able to take on projects independently; Entrepreneurial spirit and ‘can-do’
- attitude and open to feedback.
