About Urmul Setu
Urmul Setu Sansthan, founded in 1994 by Late Sanjoy Ghosh, a renowned Social Activist, is a grassroots development organisation working across remote desert regions of western Rajasthan, with a strong focus on livelihoods, advancing girls’ education, gender equity and community-led institutional strengthening. As part of the Urmul Network, the organisation is recognised for its deep community embeddedness and long-term social norms approach, mobilising women’s and youth collectives to improve access to education, health, livelihoods and public entitlements. Urmul Setu combines program implementation with capacity building and partnerships with government and civil society to enable sustainable, locally owned change among marginalised rural communities.
Position: Project Coordinator, Goat based Livelihoods
Urmul has been sanctioned a project by Tata Trusts titled “Enhancing dryland Sheep and Goat Farmers’ livelihoods through Strengthening of Producer and Marketing Linkages”. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day coordination, field implementation, partner engagement, and monitoring of project activities related to goat-based livelihoods. The role requires strong field management skills, experience with community institutions, and the ability to work closely with technical experts, field teams, producer groups and FPC.
KeyResponsibilities
- Coordinate planning and implementation of goat and sheep-based livelihood interventions across project villages.
- Selection, recruitment, training and ongoing capacity building of Pashu Sakhies.
- Support formation and strengthening of community institutions and producer groups
- Facilitate training on husbandry practises, breed improvement, fodder and management practices
- Coordinate animal health camps, exposure visits and technical support services
- Track project progress, outputs and documentation in line with donor requirements
- Work with market actors and support market linkage initiatives
- Supervise field staff and ensure quality implementation
- Contribute to reporting, reviews and learning processes
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Work or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project leadership role.
- Relevant experience in livelihoods / livestock / community development programmes
- Experience in goat value chain or small ruminant programmes preferred
- Willingness to travel extensively in rural areas
