About Kavana Charitable Trust
Kavana Charitable Trust, established in May 2025, works to strengthen the rights and wellbeing of Adivasi communities. Led by Shailendra Kumar, a Deccan Herald Changemaker 2024, the Trust is currently focused on improving educational outcomes for tribal children in H D Kote taluk, Mysore district.

Background: H D Kote has a significant tribal population. The Government of Karnataka runs 10 residential Ashram schools in the taluk for Grades 1–8, serving largely first-generation learners from Scheduled Tribe communities. Many students face learning gaps and struggle to continue education beyond Grade 8. Over the past year, Kavana Charitable Trust, along with education partners and the Department of Tribal Affairs, has supported these schools.
The Role: We are looking for Resource Persons to work closely with Ashram school teachers and school leaders to strengthen teaching learning practices and student learning.
Key responsibilities:

Visit Ashram schools regularly to observe and understand classroom practices and student learning

Identify teachers’ pedagogic and subject support needs, especially in foundational literacy and numeracy.

Support teachers on-site through classroom demonstrations, discussions, and provide feedback.

Organise and conduct teacher workshops and academic support sessions as required

Develop and adapt teaching learning resources suited to students’ learning levels

Track students’ learning progress using simple assessment tools

Document observations, learning progress, and programme outcomes, and share regular updates with the organisation

Work closely with head teachers, principals, and government officials to improve overall improvement

Desired Profile

Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Science or Arts with B.Ed. /DEd

Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in government schools

Proficiency in Kannada and English (spoken and written)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work respectfully with teachers, officials, and community members

Commitment to long-term engagement, patience, and resilience

Passion for education and social change
