About Language and Learning Foundation (LLF)
Language and Learning Foundation (LLF) works to strengthen foundational learning outcomes for children in India, with a strong focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). LLF’s approach emphasises multilingual education and the role of children’s home languages in enabling equitable learning outcomes. Through partnerships with governments, academic institutions, and civil society, LLF promotes evidence-based practice, system strengthening, and policy advocacy to improve early learning at scale.
Position Description
The Block Academic Coordinator (BAC) will be responsible for monitoring schools and academic work related to the assigned district, reporting to the District Program Manager, and based in the respective districts. The BAC will ensure the effective implementation of MLE project activities at the block level.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Implementation and Monitoring:
- Ensure implementation of MLE project activities at block level in allotted blocks/schools.
- Deliver project outcomes with quality in the allotted blocks/schools.
- Conduct individual school visits to observe classroom processes and understand teacher capacity building and support requirements.
Liaison and Collaboration:
- Liaison with government officials at block and district levels for planning and implementing MLE activities in schools.
- Work closely with Cluster Academic Coordinator (CACs) and support & mentor them in conducting classroom observations and providing constructive feedback to teachers.
- Coordinate with Block Education Officers in all aspects of project implementation.
Capacity Building:
- Support CACs in conducting structured cluster level meetings as per the frameworks and guidelines.
- Attend at least 12 cluster level meetings annually to ensure quality.
- Support District Academic Coordinators (DACs) and District Program Manager in conducting capacity building workshops/trainings for CACs, district resource groups, and district officials.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Continuous documentation of project processes and identification of super models of language learning processes and outcomes.
- Submit monthly reports to the Block Education Department and District Coordinator based on predetermined objectives for the month/quarter/year.
- Document best practices, case studies, and success stories from the field to share with donors, the central team, and governments.
- Ensure monthly data collection based on M&E needs and track children’s performance cumulatively to ensure their performance in L1 and L2 oral and written.
Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Qualifications:
- Graduation or equivalent degree required, preferably in social science background.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience working in education projects involving capacity building of teachers and teacher educators and curriculum development.
Language Requirement:
- Proficiency in the Sadri language is essential for this position. The candidate must be able to speak and understand Sadri effectively for community and school-level engagement.
Skills and Abilities:
- Deep knowledge and understanding of Multilingual Education and FLN.
- Good training knowledge and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government officials and other stakeholders.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
