About the Unit
Data, Policy, and Innovation Centre (DPIC) is a strategic partnership between Government of Odisha (GoOdisha) and University of Chicago Trust, India. DPIC serves as a hub for modern administrative data analysis, supporting improved decision-making across government systems and strengthening the data capabilities of GoOdisha officials. The Centre focuses on advancing the frontier of data driven governance by curating large administrative datasets and leveraging modern data science and applied AI research.
Position Description
DPIC seeks a full-time Communications Associate to support the Centre’s day-to-day communications,
digital presence, and event documentation activities. The Associate will work closely with the Strategic Communications Officer and DPIC teams to execute communication plans, manage digital platforms, produce visual and written content, and ensure timely dissemination of outputs. This is an execution-focused role suited to an early-career professional with strong writing, design, and coordination skills, and an interest in public policy and data-driven governance.
Responsibilities
• Manage DPIC’s website updates and social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn)
• Draft and schedule social media posts aligned with communication priorities
• Design infographics and visual assets for digital platforms
• Assist in drafting blogs, short summaries, and event announcements
• Develop presentation decks, templates, and visual materials for leadership and research teams
• Support light video documentation and editing when required
• Document workshops, consultations, and meetings through summary notes and photo documentation
• Coordinate communication materials for events (agendas, invitations, slides, background notes)
• Support logistical and outreach coordination for events and webinars
• Maintain an organized digital repository of communication materials, presentations, media assets,
and documentation
• Ensure branding consistency across outputs
• Support archiving and internal documentation processes
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
Experience
2 years of relevant experience in communications, media, content creation, or knowledge dissemination. Experience working with research, policy, or development-sector organisations is desirable
Competencies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Odia is an advantage.
• Proficiency in design and visualization tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Canva, PowerPoint) and
basic video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or similar).
• Proficiency in use of AI tools to enhance content and narratives
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of government and public-sector communication contexts is desirable.
