I. Introduction
Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI)?is a resource organization committed to improving the overall quality of life in rural and tribal regions across the Central India belt, spanning the states of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Established in 2007 as an associate organization of Tata Trusts, CInI has pioneered several scalable and impactful programs across key thematic areas—Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WaSH), Education, Sports, Primary Healthcare & Nutrition. Our initiatives are aligned with the?Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030?and have been recognised on national and international platforms.
CInI anchors its work in community institutions, women’s collectives, and frontline workers. In partnership with CSOs and State Governments, we leverage technology, and robust processes to deliver sustainable, scalable impact—powered by 300+ development professionals across implementation geographies.
II. Job Purpose
Charkha to Market (Antran) Project is a handloom development initiative, which aims at arresting drift of weavers, particularly younger generation from the handloom sector. Overarching objective of the project is to create entrepreneur led microenterprises through a process of capacity building, co-designing, ecosystem strengthening and imparting education on micro-enterprise development. The project targets to nurture 221 artisans (31 Artisan Entrepreneurs and 190 Associate Artisans) of Odisha in the weaving clusters of Manibandha (Cuttack district) and Gopalpur (Jajpur district).
The project mainly concentrates on the following key areas:
• Capacity building on business and design education
• Ideation of marketable quality samples based on emerging new design
• Handholding support for development of micro-enterprises
• Establishing B2B and B2C marketing linkages
III. Key Accountabilities
You will manage the Crafts Incubation –cum- Design Centre (IDC); coordinate capacity building and educational sessions for artisans and mobilise the weavers to build their own micro enterprises. You will be responsible for developing overall project strategy and successful field execution. The detailed job descriptions are given below:
• To manage the cluster level incubation cum design centre and coordinate with State Program Lead
• To identify training needs of weavers and associated service providers
• To develop training content for business management, communication & use of ICT for business for weavers and associate service providers relevant to local weaving repertoire (In Vernacular language)
• To provide effective mentoring to trainee weavers and preloom & post-loom service providers on business management, communication & use of elements of handloom textile as per the identified training needs. (In Vernacular language)
• To monitor qualitative and quantitative progress of trainee weavers and pre-loom & post loom service providers
• To coordinate with Visiting experts, Panel of Designers, Merchandizer for building technical excellence of weavers and associated service providers
• To ensure action research, documentation and data collection in systematic way to provide inputs for analysis and course correction to design team
• To assist the graduate weavers and pre-post loom service providers in obtaining required legal compliances like registration, GST, Import-Export code etc.
• To provide handholding support to graduate weavers promoted micro-enterprises
• Any other assignment relevant to the work assigned by State/Zonal Program Lead
IV. Eligibility and requirements
Education: Graduation or Post graduation in Textile Engineering
Experience: Max 3 years’ experience in textile/handloom sector
Skills, Competencies and Experience:
• Ability to complete time bound assignment
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written in English and Odia
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse team, spread across diverse geographies and to deliver in a time bound program
• Location of Operation: Field location (Ready to move at the earliest after selection)
• Willing to travel to remote field locations as & when required
• Salary is negotiable
