In 1982, Dr. Dwarkadasji Lohiya laid the foundation of Marathwada Navnirman Lokayat (MANAVLOK), a voluntary organisation, working for the socioeconomic upliftment of the rural poor in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra State in India. The organisation is working in the sectors of Watershed, Agriculture, Disaster Relief Services, Gender Equality, Elder and Disabled care, as an approach to integrated rural development.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Lead-Finance & Compliance to manage financial operations, ensure compliance with NGO regulations, and maintain transparent financial systems at MANAVLOK. This position is ideal for finance professionals who are passionate about the social sector and willing to relocate to a rural area to contribute to meaningful grassroots development work. The Lead-Finance & Compliance will play a critical role in budgeting, accounting, donor reporting, and financial compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including voucher processing, bookkeeping, and reconciliation of accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in Tally or other accounting software.
- Coordinate statutory audits, internal audits, and prepare supporting documentation for auditors.
Budgeting & Fund Management
- Assist in preparing programme-wise and organisational budgets in coordination with department heads.
- Monitor budget utilisation across various programmes and initiatives and provide variance analysis.
- Ensure efficient allocation and utilisation of funds, grants, and donor contributions.
- Track project-wise expenditures and prepare fund utilisation reports.
Compliance & Statutory Requirements
- Ensure compliance with FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act), Income Tax Act (80G & 12A), CSR Rules, Maharashtra Trust Act, and other NGO financial regulations.
- Manage statutory filings, including GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and other statutory compliances.
- Maintain proper documentation for all regulatory submissions and government reporting.
- Stay updated on changes in NGO financial regulations and ensure organisational adherence.
Donor Reporting & Grant Management
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for donors, government agencies, and funding partners.
- Support the fundraising team by developing financial proposals and budget estimates for grant applications.
- Ensure transparent utilisation of funds for donor reporting.
- Maintain proper documentation for multi-source funding, including government grants, CSR funds, and individual donations.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard organisational assets.
- Conduct periodic reviews of financial processes and recommend improvements.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective monitoring and reporting systems.
- Support the management in developing financial risk management strategies.
Team Coordination & Support
- Supervise accounts assistants and support staff in the finance department.
- Provide training and capacity-building support to programme staff on financial processes and budget management.
- Collaborate with programme heads to ensure financial discipline across all initiatives.
- Coordinate with banks, vendors, and external stakeholders for financial transactions.
Technology & Digital Finance
- Maintain and update Tally accounting software with accurate financial data.
- Promote digital payment systems and cashless transactions for enhanced transparency.
- Generate financial reports and dashboards using MS Excel and other financial tools.
Field Visits & Travel
- Conduct field visits to project sites across the Marathwada region for financial monitoring and verification.
- Travel to meet donors, funding partners, banks, and government offices for financial coordination.
- Support programme teams with on-site financial guidance and budget management at field locations.
Eligibility Criteria:
Education:
- B.Com / M.Com with specialisation in finance or accounting.
- Professional qualifications such as CA (Inter), ICWA (Inter), CMA, or MBA (Finance) will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of nonprofit financial management is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably in the NGO, nonprofit, or social development sector.
- Prior experience in managing FCRA, statutory compliance, and donor reporting in NGOs is essential.
- Experience working in rural or remote locations will be highly valued.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of FCRA, Income Tax Act (80G, 12A), CSR Act, Maharashtra Trust Act, and NGO accounting standards.
- Hands-on experience with Tally ERP, financial reporting tools, and donor reporting formats.
- Excellent financial analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), Outlook, and financial software.
- Understanding of statutory compliance requirements (GST, TDS, PF, ESI).
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Mandatory Language Proficiency: Fluent in Marathi (reading, writing, and speaking), Hindi and English.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: Rs.70,000 - Rs.80,000 per month, depending on skills and experience.
