SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL JOB:
The Project Lead - Climate Resilience Project will overall lead, coordinate, and implement climate Resilience project under the guidance of State Project Lead. This role requires expertise in climate change mitigation, adaptation, and policy development. The Project Lead will work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and community members to ensure the successful delivery of climate projects aligned with organizational and donor objectives.
KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management:
• Lead the overall planning, execution, and monitoring of climate-related projects to ensure timely delivery and achievement of goals.
• Develop detailed project work plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Track project milestones, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Coordinate with project coordinators & internal teams, partners, donors, and government bodies to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Climate Expertise and Technical Support:
• Provide technical guidance on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience strategies in the context of hilly terrain.
• Conduct research and analysis to identify climate risks and recommend evidence-based solutions.
• Support to project stakeholders in the development and implementation of climate policies and frameworks in alignment with national and international standards.
Capacity Building and Training:
• Design and deliver capacity-building workshops and training sessions for internal teams, community members.
• Promote awareness on climate change impacts and solutions through community engagement and stakeholder consultations.
• Build youth and community capacity and resilience.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
• Develop and maintain project monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks.
• Track and document project impacts, outcomes, and lessons learned.
• Prepare/review detailed progress reports following result-based management principle for internal use, donors, and stakeholders.
• Identify and document impactful/significant case stories
Resource Mobilization and Proposal Development:
• Support resource mobilization efforts by contributing to project proposals and grant applications.
• Identify funding opportunities and engage with potential donors to secure project funding.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and donors.
• Advocate for climate-sensitive policies and community-driven approaches to climate resilience.
• Promote greening efforts, water conservation, and sustainable practices.
• Foster youth leadership and innovations, focusing on youth-led climate action.
Financial supervision:
• Ensure timely utilization of approval resources with quality as per project planning
• Ensure timely submission of financial report and utilization certificate to the donor and demand fund for next quarter/period.
• Follow the organization’s procurement and finance police/guidelines
Gender responsive climate resilience actions:
• Ensure gender responsive climate resilience action plans are prepared & execute
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master's degree in Climate Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, or a related study.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in project management and climate change-related roles.
• Strong understanding of climate change adaptation, mitigation, and disaster risk reduction.
• Proficiency in data analysis, climate risk assessment, and policy development.
• Experience with project management tools.
• Experience working with donor-funded projects
• Familiarity with national and international climate frameworks (e.g., UNFCCC, SDGs, etc.).
• Knowledge of participatory community development approaches.
