About you
You will have a Master’s degree in Nutrition, public health, International development and/or a related field with more than 8 years of work experience with NGOs, UN agencies or similar working on public health, reproductive health, nutrition-related programs, with at least 5 years of experience working in on maternal health and nutrition and/or reproductive health in India.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex partnerships with multiple senior stakeholders, from government bodies, NGOs, and international organizations. Experience in translating evidence into program designs and knowledge products (e.g. policy briefs, case studies, etc.). And strong expertise in health system strengthening and gender studies is an added advantage.
Fluency in Hindi and English (Reading, Writing & Oratory Skills) is a prerequisite. Understanding of Marathi is an added advantage
About the role
Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Technical Specialist, PCNC will serve as the technical and gender focal point for the design, delivery, and quality assurance of the PCNC intervention package. The role will ensure that all project components of service delivery, training, supervision, counselling, and policy engagement are technically sound, operationally feasible, and gender responsive. The Technical Specialist will work closely with project partners, state and national stakeholders, and Nutrition International (NI) technical and program management teams at global, regional, and national levels.
In this role you will :
- Accountable for - Work Design and roll-out of a gender-responsive, evidence-based PCNC package; Quality assurance of PCNC implementation, training and supportive supervision; Knowledge generation, learning and policy engagement to advance PCNC adoption.
- Support concurrent monitoring and needs assessment to identify nutritional, clinical, and psychosocial concerns among women and couples in the preconception phase and barriers to service access, adherence, and decision-making.
- Finalize PCNC service package ensuring integration of concurrent monitoring and needs assessment findings and customization to state health systems. Contribute to PCNC guideline formulation, including clinical and nutritional protocols, counselling algorithms, referral pathways and gender-sensitive service standards
- Lead the selection of the BCI partner agency and oversee the development of the BCI strategy and associated products, including digital tools designed to strengthen women’s knowledge, confidence, and decision-making regarding PCNC, while engaging husbands, families, and communities to support women’s nutrition and care-seeking practices.
- Translate technical and program design guidelines into clear implementation plans, standard operating procedures, and job aids; Support the design and rollout of training programs for frontline workers, service providers, lab technicians, data managers and supervisors.
- Work closely with NI’s Monitoring, Data and Learning (MDL) team to ensure gender responsive indicators are embedded in the monitoring framework to track service quality, coverage, and equity.
- Engage with state and national stakeholders, professional bodies, and development partners to strengthen dialogue on PCNC related thematic areas such as intra-uterine growth retardation. Support policy and guideline development through strategic national and state platforms.
