About Pratham
Pratham is an innovative learning organisation created to improve the quality of education in India. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in Mumbai, Pratham has grown in both scope and scale, with programs today reaching children and youth across the country. As one of the largest non-governmental organisations in the country, Pratham focuses on high-quality, low-cost and replicable interventions to address gaps in the education system. Working directly with children and youth as well as through large-scale collaborations with government systems, Pratham programs reach millions of lives every year. Pratham’s Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach has demonstrated proven impact on children’s learning outcomes and is now being adapted to contexts outside India.

Project Summary
Pratham proposes to establish a Centre for AI in Education at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Varanasi, as an Experiential Learning Centre to strengthen pre-service teacher education through a structured, practice-oriented AI curriculum module. The Centre will enable DIET students to build foundational AI literacy, engage in hands-on projects linked to classroom practice, and learn responsible and safe AI use. The Centre will also support in-service teacher capacity building through a Master Trainer model and create opportunities for school students' exposure to introductory AI learning.

Position Summary
The Centre In Charge will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Centre for AI in Education at DIET Varanasi on behalf of Pratham. The role will coordinate and support the delivery of fortnightly AI learning sessions for DIET students through a blended model, where sessions are delivered virtually by Pratham and supported on-ground at DIET. The Centre In Charge will ensure smooth session execution, student engagement, documentation of outputs (lesson plans, classroom activities, reflective tasks, final projects), coordination with DIET faculty and administration, and timely monitoring and reporting. The role will also support Centre readiness, exposure visits for school students, and Centre events such as launch and showcase events.

Key Responsibilities
Centre Operations and Management
- Manage Centre setup and readiness in coordination with DIET administration and Gurushala team
- Ensure Centre infrastructure is functional for blended learning (basic logistics for virtual sessions, classroom readiness, materials)
- Maintain the Centre calendar and ensure alignment with the DIET academic schedule for sustained engagement of DIET students

Session Coordination and Facilitation Support (DIET Students)
- Coordinate fortnightly AI sessions for DIET students and provide on-ground facilitation support during sessions
- Support guided hands-on activities during sessions and help students complete session outputs
- Ensure session outputs are compiled, organised, and shared with Gurushala as required (lesson plans, activity designs, reflective tasks, final teaching project)

Coordination with DIET Faculty and Institutional Ownership
- Coordinate with DIET faculty to support co-facilitation in the initial phase and gradual transition of ownership
- Support DIET faculty during sessions (student mentoring, clarifications, tracking outputs) and document feedback for improvement
- Strengthen convergence by ensuring the Centre functions as an integral part of DIET systems and routines

Stakeholder Engagement and Programme Linkages
- Coordinate with Pratham’s academic and technical teams for session planning, resources, and tools
- Support linkages with in-service teacher training components where relevant (coordination support for Master Trainer engagements aligned to the programme design)

School Student Exposure and Centre Outreach
- Coordinate structured exposure visits of school students to the Centre
- Support delivery logistics for short, level-appropriate introductory AI modules during exposure visits
- Ensure safe and guided student engagement during Centre visits and maintain basic documentation of participation

Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting
- Maintain attendance, participation records, and output tracking for DIET student sessions
- Prepare monthly updates capturing Centre activities, implementation progress, and outputs produced
- Support quarterly reporting with qualitative highlights and learning notes from Centre implementation

Required Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Technology, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred)
- Experience in facilitation, training coordination, or academic support roles in education programmes
- Strong coordination skills to manage session logistics, schedules, and stakeholder communication within an institutional setting
- Ability to support hands-on learning processes and guide learners through output creation (lesson plans, activities, projects)
- Comfortable working in blended formats (virtual session coordination plus on-ground facilitation)
- Strong documentation skills for tracking progress and preparing structured reports
- Working proficiency in Hindi, with the ability to support instructional communication in an academic setting (English proficiency preferred for coordination and tools)

AI-Related Competencies
- Foundational understanding of AI concepts and ability to support learners through basic AI literacy modules
- Competence in applying AI-driven analytics to track engagement, identify audience trends, and adapt strategies accordingly

- Ability to support safe and responsible AI use practices, including attention to data privacy, bias, misinformation, and digital safety in learning contexts
- Awareness of ethical AI use in communications, including bias detection in imagery/language and ensuring safeguarding of identities in digital outputs
