Position Title: Coordinator – Assistive Technology Lab

Duration: Till December 2026, extendable based on performance and project needs

Background: With technical and financial support from UNFPA, CECOEDECON is implementing an integrated development project across selected districts of Rajasthan. The programme adopts a systems-strengthening approach to ensure that young people and adolescents equitably benefit from large-scale sectoral programmes in health, gender, and leadership development.
UNFPA, in collaboration with the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jaipur, has established Assistive Technology (AT) Labs to strengthen inclusive education including improving access to information and services related to Reproductive Health and Rights (RHR) for adolescents and young people, particularly those with disabilities.The AT Labs serve as experiential learning and demonstration hubs, supporting training, capacity-building, and hands-on exposure to assistive technologies for educators, service providers, and persons with disabilities. The initiative includes provision of assistive devices, development of adapted audio-visual life-skills learning materials, and training support for special educators and mainstream school teachers.To ensure effective implementation, coordination, and sustainability of these efforts, a dedicated Consultant/Coordinator will be positioned at CRC Jaipur.
1. Objective of the Assignment: The coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operationalisation of the Assistive Technology Lab at CRC Jaipur, ensuring it functions effectively as a learning, demonstration, capacity-building hub as well as outreach to promote inclusive education and RHR for adolescents with disabilities. The Coordinator will bridge technical, programmatic, and community-engagement functions to maximise the lab's impact on inclusive education and access to assistive technologies.
2. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
A. Coordination & Management
• Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Assistive Technology Lab at CRC Jaipur.
• Liaise with CRC officials, UNFPA, government departments (Education, SJE, Health), and partner organizations
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all assistive devices, equipment, and adapted learning materials available in the lab.
• Ensure proper upkeep, maintenance, and functional readiness of all assistive technologies and devices.
B. Capacity Building & Training
• Support CRC in organising, and facilitating training programmes for special educators, mainstream schoolteachers, rehabilitation professionals, and service providers on the use of assistive technologies.
• Conduct orientation sessions and hands-on demonstrations of assistive devices for persons with disabilities, their families, and caregivers.
• Develop training calendars, session plans, and resource materials in collaboration with CRC faculty and UNFPA.
• Coordinate with NGOs, and other stakeholders to identify training needs and mobilise participants.
C. Demonstration & Outreach
• Build and maintain linkages with schools, colleges, rehabilitation centres, DPOs (Disabled Persons' Organisations), and community groups.
• Manage the AT Lab as a demonstration hub for assistive devices and technologies
• Organize exposure visits for stakeholders (schools, government officials, NGOs)
• Promote awareness on assistive technologies and inclusive learning solutions
D. Monitoring, Reporting & Knowledge Management
• Maintain systematic records of lab visitors, training participants, device demonstrations, and beneficiaries reached.
• Develop and submit periodic progress reports to CRC and UNFPA, including case studies and success stories.
• Support outcome monitoring, data collection, and documentation of best practices and learnings.
• Contribute to project reviews, evaluations, and knowledge management activities.
3. Deliverables
• Monthly activity and progress reports
• Training plans and completion reports
• Documentation of case studies and best practices
• Updated inventory and maintenance log of AT devices and materials including database of beneficiaries and stakeholders engaged
4. Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Sciences, Social Work, Education, Disability Studies, Public Health, or a related field.
• Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in the above fields and substantial relevant experience (minimum 2 years) may be considered.
• Additional certification or training in Assistive Technology, or registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) as a Special Educator or Rehabilitation Professional will be an advantage.
5. Required Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in disability inclusion / inclusive education programmes or Assistive technologies or rehabilitation services or training and capacity building of educators or frontline workers
6. Skills & Competencies
• Strong coordination and interpersonal skills
• Ability to facilitate trainings and workshops
• Good documentation and report-writing skills
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and inclusive learning tools (desirable)
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders
7. Remuneration:A monthly remuneration of ?10,000–15,000 will be borne by CECOEDECON, with an additional support of ?8,000–10,000 provided by CRC, Jaipur.
