CONTENT OF TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT
Position Summary:
Achieving zero gender-based violence and harmful practices against women and girls is one of three transformative goals of UNFPA’s Strategic Plan. The harmful practices of Gender Biased Sex Selection and Child Marriage stem from deep-rooted discriminatory gender and social norms and addressing them is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. While the state of Madhya Pradesh has improved in terms of reducing child marriages and addressing gender-biased sex selection, challenges remain. UNFPA works closely with the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD) for the empowerment of women and girls, with particular emphasis on adolescent girls. In the coming years, UNFPA will be providing technical support to DWCD in the area of adolescent girls’ empowerment, enhancing the value of women and girls, and strengthening the response toward gender-based discrimination and violence. A technical consultant will be placed at DWCD who will work closely with the Director and Senior officials of the Department on the above areas.
