About the Organization
Himalayan Environment Livelihood Promotion Society (HELP) is a non-profit organization. The organization came into existence to enhance the socio-economic status of the underprivileged people. Hailing from a rural family, the founder was no stranger to hardships faced by the underprivileged. Having overcome economic and social challenges, due to the backing and economic blessings from certain elder society leaders, the founder set out to do his best to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow underprivileged.

Working with a team of committed people, HELP’s aim has been to secure integrated development through people’s participation. The key areas identified for interventions include Sustainable Livelihood, Women Empowerment, Environment, Trainings & Education, Organic Farming, Agriculture, Horticulture, Watershed Development, Health and hygiene etc. Our efforts have developed lasting association with government, nongovernment and corporate organizations as also with the communities and groups with whom we have worked.

We have come a long way following a small beginning in year 1996, and have implemented a wide variety of projects related to quality education, watershed development, wasteland development, tribal development, low cost sanitation, alternate energy sources, self-help groups, farmer interest groups, farmer producer organization, vocational training to youth, and women empowerment in all the Districts of Uttarakhand state in India. While implementing different developmental projects, our thrust has always been on working through people’s participation. At HELP, we have always believed in developing the capacities and capabilities of the communities, and have always strived to channel their hidden energies for the betterment of society at large. Our efforts have always been directed towards creating an environment that is conducive of enhancing opportunities to local people to think and act positively. We have always endeavoured to develop skills and competencies of the local communities with a view to enabling them to operate and maintain the assets created through the implementation of the projects on sustainable basis.

This philosophy of ours has led us to adopt a holistic and participatory approach to rural development. We believe in inclusive approach, covering all the sections of the society, particularly the underprivileged, in a village. We work with the existing village level flora (and creating new ones wherever necessary) through Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approaches, principles and techniques

Core Job Responsibilities of an Accounts Manager

1. Managing Financial Records

Maintain accurate accounting records and ledgers
Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded
Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable

2. Preparing Financial Reports

Create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Prepare balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports
Present financial insights to senior management

3. Budgeting and Forecasting

Assist in preparing budgets
Monitor budget utilization
Forecast future financial trends and cash flow requirements

4. Tax Compliance

Ensure timely filing of taxes (GST, TDS, Income Tax in India, if applicable)
Maintain compliance with government regulations
Coordinate with auditors and tax consultants

5. Account Reconciliation

Reconcile bank statements
Verify discrepancies and resolve accounting errors
Ensure accuracy of account balances

6. Team Supervision

Manage and guide accounting staff
Delegate tasks and review their work
Train junior accountants

7. Internal Controls & Auditing

Implement accounting controls
Assist in internal and external audits
Ensure financial policies are followed

8. Client/Vendor Relationship Management

Coordinate with vendors regarding payments
Handle client billing issues
Negotiate payment terms when needed

9. Financial Analysis

Analyze financial performance
Identify cost-saving opportunities
Suggest strategies for improving profitability

10. Software & Systems Management

Work with accounting software like Tally, SAP, Oracle Financials, or QuickBooks
Ensure proper financial data management
Key Skills Required
Strong accounting knowledge
Financial reporting expertise
Attention to detail
Leadership and team management
Analytical thinking
Knowledge of taxation and compliance
Proficiency in accounting software
Communication skills

M.Com, strong experience of finance, returns filing, reconciliation, maintenance of books, finalization of audits, taxations. Tally, GST, TDS, statutory compliance.
