About American India Foundation Trust:
The American India Foundation Trust (AIF) is committed to improving the lives of India’s underprivileged, with a special focus on women, children, and youth. The Foundation does this through high-impact interventions in education, health, and livelihoods because poverty is multidimensional. Founded over two decades ago, in the aftermath of the devastating Gujarat earthquake, as a humanitarian initiative by the then Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, and the U.S. President, Mr. Bill Clinton, AIF has impacted the lives of 19.63 million of India’s poor across 35 States and Union Territories of India.
Registered as a Trust in India, with an independent Board of Trustees, AIF adheres to strict financial and governance standards, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible management of resources. As per statutory mandates, AIF is registered under 80G and 12A. These registrations and certifications are tangible evidence of the organization's existence, credibility, and compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks while demonstrating a firm commitment to its vision and mission. ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Learning and Migration Program (LAMP) addresses the complex issues faced by children at risk of distressed migration and climate-induced displacement, providing them with the education, resources, and support to disrupt the cycle of intergenerational poverty and child labor. LAMP ensures that children from migrant families stay in school and acquire strong foundational skills. To offset learning regression or gaps, the Program also delivers remedial learning to ensure age and grade-appropriate education for children. The Program focuses on STEM education, equipping schools with Teaching Learning material (TLM), digital resources, and teacher training, to increase access and equity to educational resources. Since its inception in 2006, LAMP has impacted 1.71 million children and steered 5,562 villages across 17 states and union territories of India to eliminate obstacles to quality education.
Digital Equalizer (DE)is AIF’s flagship nonprofit education program that facilitates equitable access to quality learning for students from government schools across 28 states and 7 union territories of India. This initiative bridges the educational and digital divides in India and prepares students, especially young girls, for careers and lives of their choosing.
Regarded as one of the best nonprofits for education, AIF’s Digital Equalizer program targets secondary students in grades 6-10. It primarily trains educators in basic computer literacy and pedagogical methodologies that together bring creativity, diversity, and real-life examples into the school curriculum through the use of technology. DE exemplifies the impact education nonprofits can have on improving learning outcomes and fostering digital inclusion.
