NalandaWay Foundation is a 20-year-old, award-winning non-profit that uses the arts to empower children and adolescents from disadvantaged communities by strengthening their resilience, agency, and emotional well-being.
Over the last two decades, we have reached 10 million children across 12 states in India — including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, and Jharkhand — by creating safe learning spaces and experiences that nurture curiosity, creativity, and compassion. Working in partnership with governments and local communities, we have integrated arts and well-being initiatives into government-run schools, Child Care Institutions (CCIs), urban slums, and Anganwadi Centres, ensuring our impact spans both bustling cities and remote villages.
Your key responsibilities involve
• Represent NalandaWay’s work and impact on the media and external stakeholders.
• Service design requests from all verticals and project teams
• Analysis and presentation of communication metrics
• Support project teams in organising and managing programme documentation such as documents, photos, videos, newsletters, and reports on various recording mediums such as Google Drive, internal project, and document management systems
• Prepare press releases, documentation, collateral materials, presentations, videos, and other materials as needed for the leadership and project teams.
• Provide hands-on leadership to the communications team and create a culture of ownership.
• Collaborate extensively with other managers and leads across the organisation in cross-learning of ideas, knowledge and best practices.
• Working closely with our project teams across locations in preparing monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports, newsletters, and videos for our donors and government departments
• Work with designers/photographers/video/and storytellers (internal and external) to create deliverables.
• Analyse and report the target audience's social media activity, interaction, and growth
• Be the primary liaison with reporters, managing incoming media inquiries, pitching stories and writing and reviewing communication materials (op-eds, press releases, policy statements, talking points, and speeches).
• Supporting in writing research reports/ papers for submissions to national and international journals/ publications
• Work closely with the project teams in preparing Research and Impact/Monitoring & Evaluation reports as needed
• Developing reports, presentations, case studies, success stories, and other required documentation for internal and external audits.
• Visit schools, government departments, donor offices, and other project sites as needed and on an ongoing basis to interact directly with stakeholders and beneficiaries and capture their input for documentation.
• Capture learnings from programme implementation and success stories and continuously present them to internal and external stakeholders.
• Preparing crisp, impactful decks for donor meetings, investor pitches
• Hosting capacity-building sessions for other project teams.
• Creation of templates to streamline comms processes across the org.
• Support the creation of messaging and branding by leveraging a mix of print and digital campaigns, including SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, PR, and thought leadership, to advocate for NalandaWay's work.
• Identify and work with social media influencers to expand NalandaWay's reach.

Relationship Management: Establish tie-ups with the media and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Problem-Solving: Proactively identify problematic situations and work with your reporting Manager to resolve them.

• Spend significant time in the field to develop a nuanced understanding of NalandaWay's various projects.
• Improve decision-making skills, adapt to situations quickly amid uncertainties and ambiguities and recalibrate plans to realise the outcomes.
• Develop analytical abilities, team building, and motivation skills to help organise resources, work under tight deadlines, be meticulous and highly detail-oriented
• Develop a deep understanding of the domain and keep abreast of news, developments, and initiatives in the social, Education, and Development sectors.
Educational Qualifications
• Master's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Development Communication, English Literature, Social Work, or related fields.
• Additional certification in Digital Marketing, Content Marketing, SEO, Social Media Marketing, or Brand Management would be desirable.
Experience
• 7–12 years of relevant experience in Communications, Marketing, PR, or Development Sector Communications.
• At least 3–5 years in a leadership or team management role.
• Experience working with NGOs, Foundations, CSR programs, Education, Child Rights, Public Health, or Development Sector organizations preferred.
• Experience engaging with government stakeholders, donors, and media partners would be an advantage.
Technical Skills
• Strong content writing and editing skills.
• Experience preparing donor reports, annual reports, impact reports, and case studies.
• Social media management and analytics.
• Media relations and press engagement.
• Presentation and deck creation skills (PowerPoint/Google Slides).
• Basic understanding of branding, digital campaigns, SEO/SEM, and email marketing.
• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools is desirable.
