We are seeking a dynamic and committed professional to lead our Self-Help Group (SHG) in Income Generation Initiatives.
Project Head – Agriculture
We are looking for an experienced Project Head – Agriculture to support Umeed’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) in District Sangrur, Punjab in developing sustainable agriculture-based livelihood activities that improve household income and promote economic self-reliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify suitable agriculture-based livelihood opportunities for SHGs.
- Provide technical guidance and training in:
- Fruit cultivation
- Vegetable farming
- Integrated farming practices
- Soil and water conservation
- Crop planning and improved farming techniques
- Organize training programmes, field demonstrations, and exposure visits.
- Support SHGs in planning and implementing agriculture-based income-generating activities.
- Assist SHGs in accessing government schemes, subsidies, and financial assistance.
- Develop market linkages for agricultural produce.
- Coordinate with government departments, agricultural institutions, and partner organizations.
- Monitor project progress and provide ongoing technical support.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in agriculture, horticulture, or rural livelihood projects.
- Experience working with SHGs, NGOs, or rural communities is preferred.
- Good communication, training, and community mobilisation skills.
- Willingness to travel to project locations.
Preference:
Preference will be given to candidates from Punjab or those with substantial experience working with rural communities in Punjab.
