About Suraksha Songlap
Suraksha Songlap is a school-based initiative designed to strengthen child safety, gender sensitivity, awareness and safeguarding practices among adolescents, teachers, facilitators and the wider school community. The programme is being implemented in three project schools in Jhargram: Ranarani, Banpukhuria and Manikpara.

Position
Designation: Suraksha Coordinator
Location: Jhargram, West Bengal
Project: Suraksha Songlap
Reporting to: Suraksha Programme Manager
Remuneration: 12,000 per month + TA on actual basis
Travel: Frequent travel between the three project schools will be an integral part of the role.

Key Purpose of the Role: The Suraksha Coordinator will be responsible for the effective field-level implementation, coordination, monitoring and documentation of the Suraksha Songlap programme across the three project schools.
The Coordinator will work under the continuous guidance and supervision of the Suraksha Programme Manager, receive appropriate programme-related training, and subsequently provide on-site support and training to the facilitators implementing Suraksha activities in the schools.
The position requires a proactive, responsible and field-oriented individual who can build positive relationships with schools, work closely with facilitators and local stakeholders, observe programme implementation closely, and ensure that activities are completed effectively and documented appropriately.

Key Responsibilities
1. Facilitator Training and Support
* Receive continuous guidance, mentoring and appropriate training from the Suraksha Programme Manager.
* Conduct on-site training, orientation and handholding support for facilitators in the three project schools.
* Regularly interact with facilitators to understand implementation challenges and provide support within the scope of the programme.
* Identify training and capacity-building needs and communicate these to the Suraksha Programme Manager.
* Ensure that facilitators understand the objectives, methodology and safeguarding principles of the Suraksha programme.
2. School Coordination and Relationship Building
* Maintain regular and professional communication with the three project schools—Ranarani, Banpukhuria and Manikpara.
* With the support of the local Field Coordinator, develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the concerned government school authorities, teachers and other relevant stakeholders.
* Coordinate with schools to facilitate smooth implementation of programme activities.
* Communicate the programme schedule and requirements to the concerned school personnel in a timely manner.
3. Programme Planning and Implementation
* Prepare and maintain a programme calendar in consultation with the Suraksha Programme Manager and the respective schools.
* Plan frequent field visits and travel between the three project schools, keeping the Suraksha Programme Manager informed and obtaining necessary guidance.
* Be personally present during Suraksha-related activities wherever required to ensure smooth and effective implementation.
* Observe programme sessions and activities closely and provide constructive feedback to facilitators.
* Ensure that planned activities are implemented according to the programme framework, timelines and quality standards.
* Identify field-level challenges and escalate them promptly to the Suraksha Programme Manager.
4. Monitoring, Observation and Documentation
* Regularly monitor programme implementation across all three schools.
* Document key observations, participation, progress, challenges, outcomes and significant developments.
* Maintain appropriate records, reports, photographs and other programme documentation as required.
* Support the Suraksha Programme Manager in compiling periodic programme updates, progress reports and outcome documentation.
* Ensure that programme records are accurate, timely and properly maintained.
5. Coordination with Mukti Team
* Work collaboratively with the Suraksha Programme Manager, MSS Coordinators, HR team and other relevant Mukti personnel.
* Participate in online meetings, review meetings and programme discussions as required.
* Maintain timely communication with the concerned team members regarding field activities, progress, challenges and emerging concerns.
* Follow Mukti's organisational policies, procedures and professional standards at all times.
6. Child Safeguarding and Gender
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding, child rights, gender equality, adolescent well-being and prevention of abuse and exploitation.
* Ensure that all programme activities are conducted in a safe, respectful, inclusive and child-sensitive manner.
* Familiarity with child protection mechanisms, safeguarding principles, gender-related programmes or adolescent-focused interventions will be considered a strong advantage.
* Strictly adhere to Mukti's Child Safeguarding Policy and POSH Policy and immediately report any safeguarding concern through the appropriate organisational channels.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
Essential
* The candidate must be a resident of Jhargram district.
* Minimum Graduate degree from a recognised institution.
* A certificate, diploma or degree or work experience in Child Protection, Child Rights, Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies or a related discipline will be highly preferred.
* Basic computer literacy with the ability to:
o prepare and maintain documents and reports;
o use email effectively;
o participate in online meetings;
o maintain basic digital records and documentation.
* Ability to understand and communicate in simple English, both verbally and in writing.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness and ability to undertake frequent field travel between the three project schools in Jhargram.
* Ability to work independently in the field while remaining closely connected with the Programme Manager and the wider Mukti team.
Desirable
* Prior experience working with children, adolescents, schools, child protection, gender, safeguarding or community-based programmes.
* Formal training or certification in child safeguarding, child rights, gender or related areas.
* Experience of working with government schools or community-based organisations.
* Ability to facilitate group sessions, training or orientation programmes.
* Sensitivity, maturity and confidence in handling child- and gender-related issues.

Nature of the Role
This is a field-intensive coordination role requiring regular movement between the three project schools. The Coordinator is expected not merely to coordinate activities remotely, but to remain physically present, observe implementation, support facilitators, build school relationships, identify challenges and document programme outcomes.
The role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to creating safer, more inclusive and gender-sensitive school environments for children and adolescents in Jhargram.
Remuneration: 12,000 per month + TA on actual basis.
