Position/Role: Programme Lead –Wildlife (New Delhi)
 
Job Description 
  • Provide strategic leadership on programmes related to wildlife conservation, forestry, policy analysis, and biodiversity management.
  • Lead development of policy briefs, advisory notes, and technical frameworks aligned with national and state priorities.
  • Support planning-design and implementation of landscape-level conservation initiatives, including habitat restoration and corridor management.
  • Engage with government agencies (MoEFCC, NTCA, State Forest Departments), IBCA, research institutions, and civil society organisations.
  • Oversee programme planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
  • Contribute to formulation of proposals and strategic partnerships.
  • Facilitate knowledge dissemination through reports, publications, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Contribute to the publication of bi-monthly magazine ‘Big Cats’. 
Educational Qualifications
 
Postgraduate degree in Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science/ Forestry/ Ecology/ Natural Resource Management, or a related field and a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (essential).
 
Experience  
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in forest-wildlife conservation, policy research, or programme management.
  • Strong understanding of India’s forests and wildlife governance framework.
  • Experience working with government and various stakeholders in the sector.
  • Must have published research papers in reputed journals. 
Required Skills 
  • Experience in wildlife policy analysis, protected area management, and human– wildlife conflict mitigation.
  • Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, and ecological data analysis.
  • Excellent writing, communication, research, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Must have the ability to lead a team.
