Position/Role: Programme Lead –Wildlife (New Delhi)

Job Description

Provide strategic leadership on programmes related to wildlife conservation, forestry, policy analysis, and biodiversity management.
Lead development of policy briefs, advisory notes, and technical frameworks aligned with national and state priorities.
Support planning-design and implementation of landscape-level conservation initiatives, including habitat restoration and corridor management.
Engage with government agencies (MoEFCC, NTCA, State Forest Departments), IBCA, research institutions, and civil society organisations.
Oversee programme planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
Lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
Contribute to formulation of proposals and strategic partnerships.
Facilitate knowledge dissemination through reports, publications, and stakeholder consultations.
Contribute to the publication of bi-monthly magazine ‘Big Cats’.

Educational Qualifications

Postgraduate degree in Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science/ Forestry/ Ecology/ Natural Resource Management, or a related field and a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (essential).

Experience

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in forest-wildlife conservation, policy research, or programme management.
Strong understanding of India’s forests and wildlife governance framework.
Experience working with government and various stakeholders in the sector.
Must have published research papers in reputed journals.

Required Skills

Experience in wildlife policy analysis, protected area management, and human– wildlife conflict mitigation.
Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, and ecological data analysis.
Excellent writing, communication, research, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
Must have the ability to lead a team.
