Designation: Field Executive: Orphan Support Program
Experience: 0–2 years
Education: Graduate/Masters in Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, or a related discipline. Candidates with a background in social media communication/ community communication may also be considered.
 
Location: (01 in each location)
  1. Kishanganj- Bihar
  2. Jamshedpur- Jharkhand
  3. Lucknow- Uttar Pradesh 
Reporting to: Program Coordinator/Project Manager
 
About the Role:
The Field Executive will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the Orphan Support Program, which aims to provide holistic support to orphan and vulnerable children and their families. The role will involve regular field visits, child and family interaction, coordination with schools and service providers, documentation, counselling support, and facilitation of educational, nutritional, hygiene, recreational and other essential support services.
 
The ideal candidate should be empathetic, responsible, comfortable working with children and families, willing to travel extensively in the field, and capable of maintaining accurate records and communicating program activities through basic digital/social media tools.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
1. Child & Family Support
  • Conduct regular home and community visits to supported children and families.
  • Assess the educational, nutritional, hygiene, emotional and essential needs of each child.
  • Develop and maintain individual child/family support records.
  • Follow up on children requiring additional support and refer cases to appropriate services.
  • Maintain regular communication with caregivers and family members. 
2. Education Support
  • Monitor children's school attendance, academic progress and continuation of education.
  • Coordinate educational support such as school materials, uniforms, learning resources, remedial education and scholarships where applicable.
  • Liaise with schools, teachers and parents to address barriers to education.
  • Encourage children to participate in learning and extracurricular activities. 
3. Nutrition & Health Support
  • Monitor children's nutritional and general health status through regular visits.
  • Facilitate access to health check-ups, medicines, nutrition support and government health schemes where applicable.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on balanced nutrition, personal hygiene and healthy practices.
  • Maintain health and nutrition-related records. 
4. Hygiene & Menstrual Health
  • Promote personal hygiene, sanitation and safe hygiene practices among children and caregivers.
  • Support age-appropriate menstrual health and hygiene awareness for adolescent girls.
  • Facilitate distribution and proper use of hygiene materials as provided under the program. 
5. Recreational & Psychosocial Support
  • Organise sports, games, cultural activities, creative activities and child engagement sessions.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where children can express their concerns.
  • Provide basic emotional support and identify children who may require professional counselling.
  • Refer sensitive or high-risk cases to the Program Coordinator or qualified professionals. 
6. Community & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate with schools, Anganwadi centres, health workers, government departments, community leaders and local service providers.
  • Facilitate children's access to eligible government schemes and social protection services.
  • Build positive relationships with families and the local community.
  • Support program events, awareness campaigns and community meetings. 
7. Documentation & Social Media Communication
  • Maintain beneficiary databases, attendance sheets, visit records, case notes and activity reports.
  • Collect program stories, photographs and activity updates with appropriate consent and safeguarding practices.
  • Support preparation of social media updates, newsletters and program communication materials.
  • Submit weekly/monthly field reports to the Program Coordinator. 
Required Skills & Competencies:
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Genuine interest in working with children and vulnerable families.
  • Basic understanding of social development/community work.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office/Google Workspace and smartphones.
  • Social media/content creation skills will be an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct interviews, collect stories and document field activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned field area.
  • Local language proficiency will be preferred.
