About the Role
TRI is looking for a Programme Associate – Decentralised Renewable Energy (DRE) to support community-led clean energy solutions in rural geographies. The role will involve assessing rural energy needs, designing and piloting DRE solutions, working with women's collectives, Panchayats, and community institutions, and building partnerships to scale gender-responsive and climate-resilient approaches. What Will You Do?
- Assess rural energy needs across households, livelihoods, agriculture, health, and public infrastructure, prioritising gender-responsive, climate-resilient solutions.
- Conduct demand assessments and energy diagnostics to guide programme design and policy engagement.
- Design, pilot, and scale decentralised renewable energy solutions—including solar, biomass, mini-grids, clean cooking, storage, and productive-use technologies.
- Partner with women's collectives, Panchayats, and community institutions to build awareness, ownership, leadership, and participation in DRE planning, procurement, operation, and governance.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of DRE technologies, service providers, and implementation models.
- Build partnerships across government, DRE manufacturers, renewable energy service companies, financiers, CSR, and development organisations, including convergence with government schemes and financing mechanisms.
- Prepare policy notes, learning documents, case studies, and recommendations; facilitate consultations, workshops, community meetings, and multi-stakeholder reviews.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Master's degree in Energy, Environment, Climate Change, Rural Development, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in decentralised renewable energy, rural development, climate action, or allied sectors.
- Prior experience working with government programmes, CSR initiatives, or multi-stakeholder partnerships is desirable.
- Experience in gender-responsive programming and community-led models is an added advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Employment Terms
This is a third-party payroll position and is initially set for 18 months duration.
