Project Title: Improve and Augment Early Child Nutrition by Optimising the existing Take Home Ration (THR) of the ICDS scheme.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and mission-driven State Project Lead to lead planning, strategic direction, coordination, implementation and monitoring of a state-level nutrition program aimed at improving child and maternal nutrition outcomes through community engagement, capacity building, convergence with government systems, and evidence-based interventions.
The project will address these goals through the followings -
• Conduct nutritional analysis of existing THR provisions and local ingredients to assess the current state of THR in Uttarakhand.
• Reformulate THR using local ingredients and advanced food technology to meet the nutritional standards mandated by the National Food Security Act, 2013 (Updated Schedule II, 2023).
• Build the capacity of THR manufacturers to produce optimized THR mixes and train Anganwadi workers and caregivers to develop local THR recipes.
• Provide technical support for the statewide rollout of the optimized THR program.
• Evaluate the impact of the optimized THR on nutritional intake and growth outcomes in children aged 6 months to 3 years.
• Capacitate 400 Anganwadi Workers and their beneficiaries on Infant and Young Child Feeding practices.
Key Responsibilities: -
1. Project Planning & Implementation: Lead the design and execution of nutrition interventions aligned with state and national guidelines of ICDS-WECD, GoUK and GoI. Develop annual work plans, budgets, and implementation strategies tailored to hill geographies in coordination and guidance of stakeholders such CBCI, CFTRI, and other partners.
2. Program Management: Supervise & guide to project co-lead and other project staff time to time. Ensure strategic and technical planning of nutrition services such as: 1. Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF). 2. Growth monitoring. 3. Community-based nutrition awareness.
• Address operational challenges specific to remote and hilly terrains.
• Ensure meeting the project objectives and needs.
2. Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with government departments in close coordination with St. Johns Research Institute, Banglore, such as: - 1. Women & Child Development (ICDS), WECD, GoUK; 2. Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore; 3. Health Department (NHM), need based; 4. Panchayati Raj Institutions; 5. Regional Research Institutions and Universities (need based); 5. Build partnerships with NGOs etc.; 6. Securing ethics approval; and 7. Preparing subcontracts for survey agencies and executing them.
4. Monitoring & Evaluation: Establish state level robust monitoring systems and track key nutrition indicators, conduct regular field visits and review meetings, ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and documentation, use data insights to improve program performance, make strategy for better outcomes of project based on current status.
5. Capacity Building: Plan and conduct training programs for staff and partners to strengthen local capacity for sustainable nutrition practices.
6. Financial Management: Oversee project budget utilization and financial reporting and Ensure compliance with donor and organizational financial guidelines.
7. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare periodic overall project level reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) and present progress updates to donors and senior management of Himmotthan and Tata Trusts.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Social Work, Rural Development, or related field or PhD in relevant area.
• 7–10 years of experience in managing large-scale nutrition/public health programs, Prior experience working in hilly or remote regions (preferably Uttarakhand/Himalayan states) and Strong understanding of government nutrition schemes (ICDS, POSHAN Abhiyaan, NHM).
