About Language and Learning Foundation (LLF)

 

Language and Learning Foundation (www.languageandlearningfoundation.org) is a New Delhi-based non-profit organization with the vision of enhancing equitable student learning, especially language and literacy development, through the professional development of teachers and teacher educators, building/sharing knowledge, and implementing projects in collaboration with state governments. LLF currently works with seven state governments across the country. LLF's aims to improve the foundational learning outcomes of all children attending government primary schools. To achieve this, LLF has partnered with multiple state governments to expand its FLN (Foundational Learning and Numeracy) programs, which primarily focus on areas such as teacher training, material development, teacher coaching, and mentoring. In addition, LLF actively works towards driving systemic change by strengthening the capacity of the education system at the district, state, and national levels. 

 

Position Overview

The organisation has recently started working on MGT-related issues and plans a demo project on MGT in one of the districts in Haryana: Our focus will be on approximately 100 selected schools (fulfilling the required criteria) to implement MGT Based strategies and resource materials for Grade1,2 and Balvatika. We are looking for a dynamic individual to work as an Academic Coordinator. The Academic Coordinator will report to the MGT Coordinator/District Program Manager and will be responsible for implementing the program in the allotted schools.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring implementation of the MGT demo project activities of LLF at District/block level in allotted schools
  • Responsible for delivering the project outcomes with quality in allotted blocks/schools.
  • Liaison with government officials at block level for planning and implementation of MGT demo activities in schools and ensure collaboration with BEO, ABRCs/ARPs.
  • Work closely with teachers, ABRCs/ARPs and support & mentor them in conducting classroom observations and providing constructive feedback to teachers as per the guidelines.
  • Conduct regular classroom observation in selected schools according to the MGT plans and enter the data in the given tool.
  • Participate in block/Cluster level meetings as per the framework and guidelines. 
  • Support MGT coordinator and demo project staff in conducting capacity building workshops/training for teachers, ABRCs/ARPs. 
  • Support ABRCs/ ARPs in planning and conducting block level teacher training.
  • Continuous documentation and report of the MGT processes 
  • Submit reports to the MGT Coordinator/DPM for the month/quarter/year.
  • Document best practices, case studies and success stories from the field to share with donors, central team, and governments.
  • Any other work suggested by the MGT Coordinator/district project manager will also be part of the JD.

Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

 

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Preference for Hindi and Maths)

 

Experience:  Over 3 years of work experience in the school education sector, including training, teaching and mentoring, and program coordination

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of MG ML/MGT concepts and teaching processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and manage relationships
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in Hindi, it will be great if person knows the local language
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Results-oriented mindset and adaptability to a dynamic work environment typical of a young, growing organization
  • Positive and proactive attitude, receptive to feedback
