Role Purpose
The Data Manager is responsible for the integrity, flow, and usability of programme data across our Maternal & Child Health (ANC/PNC, HBNC, HBYC, IMNCI) and Non-Communicable Disease (hypertension and diabetes screening and follow-up) workstreams, as well as the school anaemia and sex-ratio-at-birth initiatives.. The role turns field-collected data into clean, reliable, and decision-ready information for the programme team, government partners, and funders.

Key Responsibilities:
Data management & systems-
• Maintain and continuously improve the programme's data collection tools, registers, and digital forms (e.g., KoboToolbox/ODK/CommCare) across all SHC and HWC sites.
• Manage the master databases for MCH and NCD cohorts, ensuring records are complete, deduplicated, and linked over time (e.g., ANC cohorts tracked to delivery and PNC; NCD patients tracked across follow-up visits).
• Maintain version control and secure backups of all datasets.

Data quality assurance-
• Run routine validation, cleaning, and consistency checks; identify gaps, outliers, and discrepancies and resolve them with field staff.
• Triangulate programme data against government records (HMIS, RCH/ANMOL portals, NCD portal) and flag mismatches.
• Document data definitions and indicator logic so measurement stays consistent across reporting periods and sites.

Analysis, reporting & M&E support-
• Produce monthly and quarterly indicator reports against the programme's M&E framework (including the NCD M&E framework already in use).
• Support analysis for field reports, case studies, grant reporting, and the annual report — including cohort tracking, coverage rates, and altitude-adjusted clinical thresholds where relevant.
• Prepare funder-ready data summaries and utilisation/indicator tables.

Dashboards & visualisation-
• Build and maintain dashboards (Excel and/or Power BI/Google Looker Studio) that give the team and government partners a live view of SHC-level performance.
• Translate complex datasets into clear charts and visual summaries for non-technical audiences.

Field capacity building-
• Train and mentor our team on accurate data recording and the use of digital tools.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting support during field or meeting/review days..

Data governance & ethics-
• Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of all patient-level health data in line with programme SOPs and applicable norms.
• Apply appropriate caution in interpreting small-population, village-level data.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Public Health, Data Science, Demography, Social Work (with a data focus), or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in data management or M&E, preferably in the public health or development sector.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation, charts).
• Hands-on experience with at least one mobile data collection platform (KoboToolbox, ODK, or CommCare).
• Strong working knowledge of Hindi and English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Willingness to travel to field sites across Pati Block and work in remote hill settings.

Desirable:
• Familiarity with government health data systems (HMIS, RCH, ANMOL, NCD portal, e-Sanjeevani).
• Experience with a visualisation tool (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio) and/or basic statistical software (R, Python, or SPSS).
• Understanding of RMNCH+A and NCD indicators and the public health system structure (SHC/HWC/PHC).
• Prior experience working with frontline health workers.

Core Competencies
• Meticulous attention to detail and a strong instinct for data quality.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and produce complete deliverables.
• Clear communication — able to explain data to clinical and field staff without jargon.
• Patience and a collaborative approach to building data capacity in the field.
