About the organisation

PATHA for Rights (PFR) is a community-based, women-led organisation based in Manikpur Sarhat block of Chitrakoot district, UP. It aims to work towards development premised on human rights, gender equality and social justice, and to transform the lives of socio-economically marginalised communities by advancing the rights, freedoms and agency of girls and women.

PFR envisions that girls and women will have and exercise their full agency, with the freedoms, rights and opportunities they need to make decisions about their lives.

PFR focuses its mission on education, feminist leadership development and cultivating climate resilience, including promoting a green environment and fostering efficient water governance in the area. Our work recognises that gender inequality intersects with social and economic exclusion, and that lasting change is rooted in the leadership, knowledge and agency of communities themselves.

The opportunity

PFR is expanding its team and inviting applications for the post of Accountant-cum-Programme Assistant, exclusively from qualified women candidates.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers and systems, supporting a team, being part of a growing organisation and contributing to meaningful work with communities. We are particularly interested in women who bring a commitment to gender equality, social justice and community-led change.

Job Description

Position: Full-time, based at Manikpur block HQ (Chitrakoot District, UP).
Contract: 2 years, with a 3-month probation period.

The Accountant-cum-Programme Assistant will provide accounting, financial, administrative, documentation, data-management and programme support to help ensure that organisational and programme activities are implemented efficiently, transparently and in accordance with organisational and donor requirements.

The role will include:

* Maintaining accurate and timely organisational accounts and financial records.
* Maintaining and organising financial documentation, including vouchers, ledgers, cash books and bank records.

* Working closely with the Board representatives, Programme Coordinator, office team and field staff to ensure that financial, administrative and programme records are properly maintained.
* Proactively flagging financial, administrative or programme-related discrepancies to the Programme Coordinator or appropriate authority.

The position will operate within PFR’s approved financial and administrative systems and will not independently make major programme, financial or procurement decisions. The role is expected to take initiative in identifying and flagging discrepancies and seek guidance where needed.

Desired Qualification, Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with numbers, records and systems, while also being interested in supporting programme work and working collaboratively with a team.

* Graduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in accounting, administration, NGO/development programmes or a similar position.
