FOUNDATION FOR ECOLOGICAL SECURITY JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE : Sr. Project Manager/ Program Manager (Restoration Engineer)
REPORTING TO: State Head – Andhra Pradesh
LOCATION : Madanapalle – Andhra Pradesh
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role will provide technical support in developing restoration plans, engineering designs, estimates, and cost calculations for structures such as irrigation tanks, percolation tanks, check dams, and other water conservation interventions. The incumbent will be expected to document programme processes, prepare periodic reports, use relevant technological tools for natural resource management, and provide technical support to partner teams. The position requires extensive travel to partner locations and other programme areas within Andhra Pradesh.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential functions but not exhaustive):
1 Guide partner NGOs in planning and implementing restoration interventions related to water bodies and commons.
2 Coordinate closely with partner NGOs and Government departments to facilitate the implementation of restoration plans and achieve the project’s intended deliverables and impacts related to water and commons.
3 Provide technical assistance to partner NGOs for the preparation of restoration plans, structural designs, estimates, and costing of water conservation and restoration works.
4 Lead crop water budgeting exercises and water governance initiatives and provide technical support to partner organisations.
5 Coordinate with Government departments to leverage resources and facilitate convergence for commons restoration and water conservation.
6 Establish robust systems and protocols for check measurement and quality control of restoration structures in collaboration with programme partners.
7 Taking up any other task as deemed fit or as assigned by the reporting officer from time to time.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
• B.Tech./M.Tech. in Civil Engineering, with preferably around ten years of experience in a reputed NGO or development organisation.
• Prior experience working as an engineer in watershed development, Natural Resource Management (NRM), water resource engineering, MGNREGS, or similar development programmes.
• Experience of working and coordinating with partner NGOs, development organisations, Government departments, or stakeholders in a coalition, consortium, or network-based programme.
• Ability to develop technical designs, estimates and cost calculations, and experience in execution, documentation, recording, and check measurement of restoration works such as irrigation tanks, percolation tanks, check dams, and other water conservation structures.
• Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint, with strong skills in MS Excel. Ability to work with data and prepare technical estimates, cost calculations, and related analysis using Excel.
• Ability to systematically document field processes, technical interventions, learnings, and outcomes, and prepare periodic reports and programme updates.
• Knowledge and practical understanding of technological tools and applications relevant to Natural Resource Management and water resource planning.
• Willingness to travel extensively to partner locations, project sites, and other programme areas across Andhra Pradesh and work closely with field teams and stakeholders.
REMUNERATION & OTHER DETAILS
• FES provides renewable contractual employment and compensation levels and other monetary/non-monetary benefits at FES are considered good within the development sector. The initial contract is for one year, which is further renewed for much longer terms upon successful completion of one year. The annual remuneration for this position would be in the range of INR 6 to 9 lakhs based on competency & experience, plus performance incentives and other benefits as per the rules.
