About APSA:
The Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA) is a 45-year-old registered, non-profit organization working in urban slums in Bangalore and Hyderabad, primarily to uplift and increase the agency of children, youth and women. It achieves this through innovative institutional projects that include open shelters, skill training centres, non-formal education, early childhood care and development, and support to young women who have transitioned from the care system. APSA’s outreach work includes the promotion of SHGs of women, occupation-based collectives for domestic and construction workers and collectives of children and youth. APSA also works to improve the infrastructure and WASH facilities in government schools to increase the enrolment and retention of children, in particular girls. In thematic terms, APSA works on child rights, gender, alcohol & substance abuse, livelihoods, and mental health. APSA currently administers some 16 projects, both outreach and institutional.
About the Role:
APSA is inviting applications from qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Documentation-cum-MIS Officer at the Bangalore office with occasional travel to Hyderabad. The Documentation-cum-MIS Officer will report to the APSA Management of Executive Director and Director and support the work of the Communications & Donor Relations Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support APSA’s field offices, when required, in administering baseline and endline surveys and tools, assist Field Coordinators to efficiently collect data, undertake preliminary tabulation/ analysis and interpretation of data.
2. Assist APSA’s projects to conduct FGDs and interviews with community members as and when required.
3. Coordinate with Project Coordinators and prepare reports and case studies.
4. Collect information and data from the various projects and assist the Communications & Donor Relations Officer with this towards preparing donor reports, project proposals and budgets to existing and potential donors.
5. Prepare content briefs of special events/ programs of APSA for upload on APSA’s social media.
6. Any other tasks that the APSA Management may require to be done.
Profile of Applicants, Qualifications and Skills:
a) Be between 28 and 45 years of age.
b) Has a graduate/ post-graduate degree in English/ Social Work/ Sociology or related discipline.
c) Has had 4 – 5 years’ experience working with an NGO/ CSR Foundation with skills in data collection, documentation, and reporting.
d) Has the ability to communicate and coordinate with staff and communities in urban slums.
e) Knowledge of English and local language Kannada (speak, read, write) is mandatory. Applicants who do not know the local language will automatically not be considered.
f) Working proficiently with MS. Office Applications, internet search and computerized analytical tools.
g) Travel to the APSA field areas in Bangalore city and occasionally to the Hyderabad office.
Preferred:
a) Female candidates who have worked on women and child empowerment programs.
b) Experience working with community development programs, including with marginalized groups.
c) Experience in data collection, documentation, reporting and coordinating MIS for multi-project NGOs.
d) Two-wheeler with a valid driving license for local travel (optional).
e) Knowledge of Telugu/ Tamil in addition to Kannada will be an advantage.
f) Willing to undertake field visits.
g) Available to join within 1 month of appointment.
Salary offered will be commensurate with qualification and experience and include group health insurance, mobile phone and travel allowance and other statutory benefits (Provident Fund, Employee State Insurance (ESI)) after probation as applicable to permanent staff.
