About the Project: Samarth Samuday Pariyojana is being implemented in 10 villages of Kaiserganj Block in Bahraich District. The area is flood prone and communities face difficulties during the flood season. The project focuses on helping communities prepare for and respond to disasters, while also addressing food and nutrition, WASH, and sustainable agriculture. Through these interventions, the project aims to reduce the risks faced by communities and support them in building more resilient and sustainable livelihoods.
About the Position: Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra (SSK) is looking for a Thematic Expert for the Samarth Samuday Pariyojana. The position will serve as a Thematic Expert for WASH and related areas, providing technical guidance and support to the project team. The role will involve working closely with the team and community to plan, implement, monitor, and document WASH-related activities as per project requirements and timelines. The position will be based at Kaiserganj. The candidate should have knowledge and experience in WASH and related areas.
Educational Qualification:
- Post Graduate in Rural Management/ Social Work/ Public Health or any other social science discipline
Key Skills and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in WASH programme planning, implementation, and monitoring
- Good understanding of WASH, hygiene promotion, menstrual hygiene and related health and community issues
- Experience in conducting community meetings, awareness sessions, and capacity-building activities
- Strong community engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with local community
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to project team
- Good planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Good report writing and documentation skills, including preparation of case studies, success stories, and project reports
- Good command of both Hindi and English (verbal as well as written)
- Computer proficiency
- Only FEMALE candidates with experience in development sector and community-based WASH programmes are encouraged to apply
Roles and responsibilities:
- Lead the WASH component of the project and ensure that planned interventions are implemented effectively at the field level
- Guide the team in designing and conducting WASH interventions based on community needs and project priorities
- Work directly with community members to understand WASH-related issues, encourage participation, and support community-led solutions
- Facilitate community meetings and discussions on water, sanitation, hygiene, menstrual hygiene and other relevant health and hygiene concerns
- Identify gaps and challenges in implementation and work with the team to find practical solutions
- Maintain records of WASH interventions, community participation, key outcomes, and field-level learnings
- Collect information from the field and prepare regular progress reports and updates for management and donors
- Support the team in collecting and verifying data related to WASH indicators and project targets
- Conduct community meetings and discussions on WASH and related topics, including hygiene, menstrual hygiene, sanitation, and other relevant health issues.
- Contribute to project reviews, planning meetings, and discussions on improving WASH interventions
