Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN), Hyderabad is an organisation focused on natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy action at the state and national level, especially for rainfed areas. It has contributed substantially to the development of national and state watershed policies. It is also working with various partners across India as part of the Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture (RRA) Network.
About the Initiative:

Common Ground is an initiative aimed to achieve resilient social, ecological, and economic outcomes for marginalised groups through the inclusive and decentralised governance of the Commons. Working as a collaboration of civil society, governments, and markets, Common Ground strives to connect, convene, and align diverse actors for coherent action at the landscape-level. As a part of this collaborative effort, WASSAN is working on anchoring landscape partnerships to catalyse action for resilient systems and communities. In this context, WASSAN, along with other actors, has created a ‘Multi-Actor Landscape Platform (MAP) for Agroecology’ to foster partnerships between local governments, civil society, community-based organisations, financial institutions, and other relevant stakeholders for sustainable landscape transitions.
Role Purpose:

The LRC Data Manager will manage data systems, databases, dashboards, and analytics for the Landscape Resource Centre, ensuring accurate, timely, and usable data to support planning, monitoring, and decision-making under the MAP.
Key Responsibilities:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Data System Development & Management-
a. The LRC Data Manager will be responsible for managing data systems by designing and maintaining geo-spatial databases, as well as thematic and socio-economic datasets.
b. Also manages Action Group based databases to support planning, implementation, and monitoring processes.
c. Ensures integration of multiple data sources into a cohesive system, enabling efficient data management, consistency, and meaningful analysis for informed decision-making.
2. Data Collection & Validation
a. Candidates will oversee data collection and validation processes by developing appropriate tools and formats for field-level data collection.
b. Ensures close coordination with MAP Program and field teams to ensure smooth and timely data flow from the ground.
c. Responsible for ensuring data quality through rigorous validation processes, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and reliability across datasets.
3. Dashboard & Analytics-
a. Candidates will lead dashboard development and analytics by designing and managing interactive dashboards for tracking program, thematic and convergence progress.
b. Generates analytical reports and visualisations to support data-driven decision-making, enabling stakeholders to monitor performance, identify trends, and take timely actions.
4. Investment Tracking-
a. Candidates will be responsible for investment tracking by maintaining a comprehensive database of government investments, and external funding sources etc.
b. Supports convergence analysis by identifying overlaps, gaps, and opportunities across these investments
5. GIS & Spatial Data Support-
a. Candidates will provide GIS and spatial data support by assisting in the creation of maps related to land use, natural resources, infrastructure, and other key landscape features.
b. Responsible for coordinating with GIS and technology partners to ensure the effective use of spatial data and tools for planning and decision-making purposes.
6. Documentation & Reporting-
a. Candidates will be responsible for documentation and reporting by generating data briefs, periodic reports, and evidence notes to inform MAP discussions.
b. Maintenance of well-structured data repositories, enabling easy access to support analysis, reporting, and decision-making processes.
7. Technology Coordination-
a. Candidates will coordinate technology-related functions by working closely with the WASSAN IT team, Gram Vani (Core Stack), and other ecosystem partners to strengthen digital integration and system functionality.
Required Qualifications:

1. Graduate/Postgraduate in Statistics, GIS, Computer Applications, or related field
2. Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience
Required Skills & Competencies:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Strong skills in Data management and Data visualization
2. Basic knowledge of GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS preferred)
3. Understanding of rural development datasets (preferred)
4. Ability to convert data into clear insights and visuals
5. Proficiency in Odia, Hindi and English
Note:

a. Candidates will be stationed in Jeypore, Koraput and have to travel extensively for field visits as per programme requirements.
b. Candidates should have his/ her own bike for commuting and possess a valid driving licence.
