Job Description

A leading charitable eye bank in Mumbai is looking for compassionate, responsible and well-communicating candidates for the position of Eye Donation Counsellor.

The role involves counselling and supporting families during a sensitive time following the death of a loved one, creating awareness about eye donation, and coordinating the eye donation and retrieval process.

Key Responsibilities
Counsel and motivate families for eye donation in a sensitive and empathetic manner.
Attend and coordinate eye donation calls received from hospitals, families and other sources.
Explain the eye donation process, eligibility and related procedures to families.
Coordinate with hospitals, relatives, medical teams and eye retrieval personnel.
Facilitate timely eye retrieval and ensure completion of necessary documentation.
Maintain accurate records of eye donation calls, counselling and retrieval activities.
Participate in eye donation awareness programs and community outreach activities.
Follow established protocols and maintain confidentiality of donor and family information.

Candidate Profile
Graduate in any discipline.
Candidates with a background in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Healthcare or related fields will be preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Should be empathetic, patient and comfortable communicating with bereaved families.
Good command of spoken Hindi, Marathi and English will be an advantage.
Ability to work independently as well as coordinate with a team.
Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by the nature of the role.
Prior experience in eye donation counselling, hospital counselling, patient counselling, social work or healthcare will be an advantage.
