Position Title: Program Manager

Location: Mumbai Slums (Selected urban slum communities of Mumbai Metropolitan Region-Dharavi, Mulund West, Balkum)
Duration :6 months (initial duration), possibility of extension based on project requirements and funding
Travel: Extensive field travel (approximately 80-85%) within the intervention locations; 15 to 25 % time for coordination, documentation and administrative responsibilities

About the Project
A Holistic Approach towards Improving Maternal Health and NCD Knowledge and Health-Seeking Behaviours among Vulnerable Communities in Urban Slum Settings of Mumbai.
The sequential approach of awareness, screening, referral, and follow-ups is used to deliver services to the beneficiaries under the project.
The specific objectives
1. To strengthen awareness, early risk identification, referral and follow-up for maternal health and NCDs, with a focus on hypertension and diabetes
2. To improve knowledge and health-seeking practices related to menstrual health and RTI/STIs among adolescent girls and women
To strengthen the capacities of municipal frontline health workers for integrated health promotion, risk identification, referral and follow-up.
The project will achieve the project objectives by focusing on:
1. Screening (Questionnaire based) and follow-ups of identified beneficiaries will be done
2. Regular one-to-one meetings with frontline workers, Municipal Corporation to ensure participation of frontline workers, other stakeholders in project activities.
3. Issue-based counselling sessions/ group sessions/one-to-one sessions/ school sessions on thematic areas with primary beneficiaries
4. Observation of special days (World AIDS Day, Cancer Day, Breast Cancer Awareness month, Cervix Cancer Awareness month, World Diabetes Day)
5. Documentation of Success Stories
6. Health Facility Assessment and Capacity building of Frontline Workers
7. Commencement of Health screening and referral camps in coordination with health facilities
8. Documentation and disseminate the key findings from the intervention
Purpose of the position
The Program Manager will be responsible for rolling out implementation of Project.
Responsibilities
As the person responsible for coordinating and commencement of project activities as per the project requirements under the leadership of the Senior Regional Manager.
Program Manager responsibilities will include:
1. Stakeholder Engagement and Networking
Networking at the urban/wards, including service providers, gatekeepers, and relevant personnel, in order to facilitate project objectives.
2. Communication and Awareness Building
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with identified service providers and gatekeepers. Organize awareness campaigns to ensure their active involvement in project activities, aligning with project timelines.
3. Research and Evaluation Oversight
Supervise all research and evaluation processes within the project, ensuring high-quality data collection that aligns with project goals.
4. Activity Planning and Data Management
Create monthly activity plans, outlining tasks, targets, and deliverables. Ensure timely and accurate data entry into MIS app for effective project monitoring and reporting.
5. Team Leadership and Coordination
Lead and manage the field team, promoting their efficiency and coordination to achieve project delivery. Provide guidance, support, and supervision as needed.
6. Approval Procurement
Obtain necessary approvals from authorized personnel to facilitate the smooth commencement of field-level activities.
7. Reporting and Project Monitoring
Prepare essential project activity reports and compile block-level reports. Participate in periodic reviews and discussions to monitor project execution.
8. Quality Assurance Visits
Conduct monitoring and support visits in the intervention areas to maintain the quality of project activities.
9. Financial Reporting
Create monthly expenditure reports and secure the required approvals for project-related expenses.
10. Additional Responsibilities
Undertake any other relevant tasks assigned by the Senior Regional Manager at MAMTA to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
11. Weekly Field Team Feedback Meetings
Hold regular feedback meetings with the field teams to enhance collaboration and project progress.
12. 12Monthly reporting to project team at MAMTA Head Office.
Qualification and Experience
• Candidates based in Mumbai/Thane or with strong familiarity with Mumbai health system will be preferred
• Master’s Degree in public health/sociology/social work is essential
• 5 to 6 years’ experience of working in health/development projects.
• Fluent in written and spoken Hindi, Marathi and English
• Excellent knowledge of working with the Health Systems and Community Intervention.
• Previous experience of team management
• Computer literate and fluent in using Office software (Word processors, spreadsheets, presentations)

Salary
Commensurate with experience and as per MAMTA HIMC's organizational salary structure for this position. INR 45,000 (CTC).
