Jan Sahas Foundation is more than a decade old community and survivor-centric civil society organisation working across 12 states of India. We work with vulnerable communities on safe migration, workers’ protection, and the prevention of violence against women and children.

About MRC: Migrants Resilience Collaborative (MRC) is a grassroots-led multi-stakeholder collaborative of nonprofit, philanthropic, and private sector actors focused on ensuring dignity, safety, security, and mobility for vulnerable migrant families across India. The Collaborative will be India's largest grassroots-led collaborative, and largest non-governmental initiative dedicated to the migrant workers and their families.
We will support 10 million workers and their families in 100 districts and cities (across source and destination) over the next 5 years with the following outcomes:
- Delivering social security entitlements
- Providing access to responsible and ethical recruitment
- Strengthening tracking, worker protections, welfare, and redressal
Summary of role:
Managing the program and team at the state level
- Finalize the geographical area of work including districts and blocks along with the team
- Lead the recruitment of all staff in the state and ensure the capacity building of all the team members through multiple trainings on technical as well as soft skills
- Plan programmatically and financially for the operations in the state for the entire MRC program including Worker Protection, Social Security, Financial Inclusion and Responsible Recruitment along with the operations manager
- Ensure that the team has all available resources to conduct their responsibilities properly
- Conduct regular review meetings with the state team
- Ensure that all the processes defined by the organisation are being followed at each level and provide oversight and support wherever required
- Ensure that the state team is conducting their duties as per their job description and conduct regular monitoring meetings and visits
- Ensure that the tech-platform (program app and portal) is being used in real time to ensure daily work, report generation and updation of MIS
- Ensure that the learnings from the implementation on the field are shared with the operations/programme manager to better the program
- Support the operation manager in preparing programmatic reports for their respective state
- Perform all other duties as assigned to them
Government and Private Engagement at the State and District level
- Liaison with the Government departments and bodies at the state and district to build visibility and credibility of the MRC program
- Build relationships with officials from the concerned departments at the state and district level
- Give update time to time to various Government officials about the work being done by the MRC team in the district
- Build private partnerships in the state of operations as required
- Leverage the strengths of CBOs/other organisations working in the same state
- Support the district coordinators to establish relationship with the government officials and other private organizations in the operational districts within the state
Qualifications:
- Graduate/Masters in social work/rural management/economics/development and other related field
- 3-5 years of experience of working in relevant verticals with reputed NGOs
- Professional experience of working with large teams would be preferred
- Previous experience of working with migrants and government department would be preferred
- Preferred: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the local language of the state
- Previous experience of working in the state will be preferred
- Fluency in Local Language

Compensation:
- Commensurate with experience, and competitive based on nonprofit standards in India.
