Transform Schools is working to ensure that every child realises their full potential in school and beyond. Anchored in India's national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4, 5, and 10), our mission is to improve learning outcomes, gender equity, and life opportunities for secondary-grade students aged 13-18.
We co-design and implement evidence-based education programmes with State governments, with a focus on strengthening foundational learning, building equitable learning environments, and preparing students for transitions beyond school. Our work combines pedagogical innovation, teacher development, data-driven instruction, and systemic reform to ensure every adolescent—especially those from underserved communities—can thrive. As co-convenors of the State of Secondary Education (SOSE) global collaborative, we are also shaping a global agenda to position secondary education as a societal minimum standard—mobilising research, investment, and practice across the Global South.
Our work spans two institutional vehicles: People For Action, a charitable society that delivers CSR and grant-funded programmes, and The Transform Trust, which leads outcomes-linked engagements.
With a strong footprint across multiple States (Definite plans of expansion in deepening of our work) and a commitment to scale, we aim to reach 30 million children by 2030, building a future where quality secondary education is a reality for all.
Strategic Priorities
1. By 2030, we aim to commence work with 30M children thereby reaching and sustaining to impact 25% of children in elementary and secondary government schools in India. To achieve this, we prioritise core education outcomes and impacting life beyond schools for children in the last five years of school i.e. ages 13-18 years, with a special focus on government schools, vulnerable groups and geographies. These include but are not limited to Girls, Dalits, Tribals and Aspirational districts. Our work is informed by SDG 4,5, & 10, global, national policy and evidence.
2. Produce long-term measurable impact on:
- Improved transition rates from primary to secondary.
- More children staying in school & completing secondary school.
- Reduced gender gap in educational attainment.
- Improved student performance.
- We establish these through appropriate robust internal, independent qualitative and quantitative approaches.
3. Establish long-term systemic interventions, partnerships and change focus to enable:
- Rapid growth of our impact at scale work especially on student learning.
- Build an innovations Institute to test and scale interventions.
- Leverage our knowledge and expertise to establish sectoral leadership to inform policy and practice.
Job Purpose
The Programme Coordinator will support the implementation of the Learning Equaliser programme, aimed at building science capital among secondary school students in 25 government schools. Working closely with teachers, students, and community stakeholders, the Coordinator will facilitate targeted STEM and gender-sensitive activities, ensure the implementation of the TL programme to build students' aspirations and reduce dropout risks.

Key Responsibilities
1. School-Level Programme Implementation
- Facilitate in-person sessions on gender, life skills, and STEM aspirations through workshops, dialogue circles, blended modules, and reflection activities for students.
- Support teachers in integrating gender-responsive pedagogies into Mathematics and Science classrooms and languages to strengthen participation and learning outcomes.
- Ensure effective distribution, access, and utilisation of programme materials including handbooks, worksheets, assessments, STEM kits and digital learning tools.
- Conduct monthly reflection circles with teachers and structured student engagement sessions to reinforce programme concepts.
- Establish and mentor student peer groups, gradually transitioning ownership so groups function independently by the second year.
- Implement Vulnerability and STEM Potential Mapping tools to identify students requiring additional academic or socio-emotional support.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & School Ecosystem Strengthening
- Conduct orientations and periodic review meetings with Head Teachers and teachers to strengthen programme adoption and classroom implementation.
- Facilitate structured engagements with parents, School Management Committees, and community stakeholders to build support for gender-equitable learning environments.
- Coordinate exposure visits, guest sessions, and role-model interactions to expand student awareness of educational and career pathways.
- Support school leadership in embedding programme practices into school routines, plans, and review mechanisms.
3. Monitoring, Data Collection & Quality Assurance
- Administer baseline, and endline assessments and ensure accurate recording and submission of programme data.
- Conduct classroom observations and field monitoring visits to assess fidelity of implementation and identify improvement areas.
- Maintain student-level and school-level data related to participation, performance, attendance, and engagement indicators.
- Share weekly progress updates with reporting managers and flag implementation challenges for timely resolution.
- Document field insights, change stories, and challenges using prescribed formats to inform programme learning.
4. Community Engagement & Local Systems Strengthening
- Organise quarterly community dialogues with local leaders, youth groups, and women's collectives to strengthen local ownership of programme goals.
- Encourage adolescent participation in community-based initiatives linked to leadership, equity, and STEM awareness.
- Build local networks of resource persons and institutions to sustain programme activities beyond direct implementation.
5. Coordination & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with district teams and internal programme staff to ensure timely execution of activities and adherence to implementation plans.
- Coordinate schedules with schools and stakeholders to align programme delivery with academic calendars and local priorities.
- Maintain continuous communication with school staff, community representatives, and programme teams to ensure smooth operations.
Essential Requirements
- A Bachelors in Education or Social Sciences and a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in teaching education and gender programmes.
- Sound knowledge about the Government / Government aided schools of Telangana.
- The person should have the ability to work at school premises along with the fellow teachers.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a range of stakeholders, including schools, community leaders, donors and NGOs on issued-based advocacy initiatives.
- Experience in community organising, advocacy, or social justice work, particularly related to gender issues, is an asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, ability to prioritise a diverse and demanding workload, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, communications (including high level competency in written and verbal English and Telugu), IT, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work flexibly and travel regularly.
Additional Information:
- This position will require travel to various schools within the Transform Schools network.
- Fluency in additional languages spoken within the local community may be advantageous.
