Position: Consultant – Fundraising
Base Location: New Delhi (with travel as required)
About Us:
SLD is a non-profit organisation established in 2006, working with women workers, migrant workers and labour communities across India. SLD focuses on worker wellbeing, gender-responsive and inclusive workplaces, health, capacity building and community development through research, training, legal and referral support, leadership development and stakeholder engagement.
With offices in seven states and partnerships across India, SLD works across sectors including garment, leather, seafood and domestic work, contributing to improved working conditions, stronger workplace practices, social dialogue and access to support and services.

- Reports to: Executive Director.
- Works in close collaboration with: Associate Senior Manager – Gender Justice & Strategic Partnerships, Programme Teams, and the Finance Team to support donor engagement, proposal development, and resource mobilisation initiatives
Position Summary
The Consultant – Fundraising will play a key role in strengthening SLD's resource mobilisation efforts by identifying strategic funding opportunities, leading high-quality proposal development, cultivating donor relationships, and supporting long-term fundraising initiatives aligned with the organisation's mission and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and monitor funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, CSR initiatives, multilateral agencies, bilateral agencies, and philanthropic organisations.
- Research donor priorities, eligibility criteria, funding trends, and strategic partnerships relevant to SLD's programme areas.
- Develop and coordinate high-quality concept notes, grant proposals, EOIs, donor presentations, and other fundraising materials.
- Coordinate with programme, finance, and monitoring teams to gather technical and financial information required for proposal development.
- Prepare project budgets in collaboration with the Finance team and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Maintain an updated fundraising pipeline, donor database, proposal tracker, and submission calendar.
- Support donor engagement through meetings, presentations, follow-up communications, and relationship management.
- Assist in developing fundraising strategies and annual resource mobilisation plans.
- Ensure timely submission of proposals in compliance with donor requirements.
- Support preparation of donor reports, impact summaries, success stories, and communication materials.
- Coordinate with partners and consultants during collaborative proposal development.
- Monitor developments in the NGO, CSR, philanthropy, and development sectors.
- Maintain confidentiality of organisational and donor information.
- Ensure compliance with SLD policies, donor guidelines, statutory requirements, and ethical fundraising practices.
- Submit periodic progress reports on fundraising activities and outcomes.
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities reasonably assigned by the Supervisor, consistent with the nature and level of the consultancy, in furtherance of SLD's mission, organisational objectives, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Public Policy, International Development, Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certification in proposal writing or fundraising is desirable.
Experience
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in fundraising, resource mobilisation, grant writing, or donor relations, preferably in the NGO/development sector.
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent proposal writing and grant development skills, strong donor research and relationship management abilities, financial planning and budgeting skills, excellent written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, project coordination, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a passionate and results-oriented fundraising professional who combines excellent proposal writing with strong donor engagement skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive grant proposals, build strategic partnerships, and work collaboratively across teams to mobilise resources for impactful programmes.
Remuneration
- Compensation: Rs.70,000 – 75,000 per month (Consolidated).
- The final remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications, relevant experience, and organisational salary norms.
