About Dignity First Initiative (DFI): The Dignity First Initiative works through a dual approach that simultaneously prevents and responds to violence against women and children. A growing network of grassroots workers drives change from within communities by equipping adolescents with awareness and agency, while delivering direct, survivor-centred support to those affected by violence. This locally rooted model is designed to achieve meaningful impact at scale.
Position Overview
The role focuses on advancing gender justice and women’s rights through government coordination, capacity building, advocacy, research, and stakeholder engagement. The person will work closely with state-level government departments such as Women & Child Development (WCD), Police and SLSA, while also building partnerships with organisations and networks working on gender-based violence and women’s rights.

Responsibilities :
- Interdepartmental coordination at state level- State Commission for Women (SWC), Police (Community Policing, Women Security, Training wing) Madhya Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MPSCPCR) and SLSA and other convergence departments and institutions related to women and child empowerment
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, policies, guidelines and reports.
- Liaise with, State Governments, Courts/DLSA/SLSA and government agencies for smooth implementation of policies and projects
- Analyze legal frameworks and suggest modifications and evaluate the effectiveness of convergence cell’s activities and program
- Maintain legal knowledge resources and monitoring tools.
- Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and leadership meetings
- Research analysis support to team
- Advocacy and policy engagement on women’s rights
- Networking and partnership with organizations, networks, and stakeholders working on gender & justice issues
- Communication and documentation support
- Providing training on laws related to gender-based violence and other laws as per the need and the requirement
- Regular submission of reports for internal and external purposes
- Participate in organizational development programs, activities, workshops, training, and other activities held at the organization at different locations
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by Senior Leadership.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Law, Human Rights,
- Public Policy, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in the development/social sector, particularly in gender, women’s rights, gender-based violence, or social justice.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and policies related to women, children and gender-based violence.
- Experience in government coordination and stakeholder engagement, preferably with state-level departments in UP/Rajasthan/MP.
- Experience in training and capacity building, including facilitating sessions for government officials, frontline workers, community stakeholders or partner organisations.
- Experience in advocacy, policy engagement, research and documentation related to gender/women’s rights.
- Demonstrated experience in building partnerships and networks with government bodies, NGOs, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
- Good written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
- Prior experience of working with MP/UP/Rajasthan government.
- Prior litigation experience of cases related to gender based violence will be an added advantage but not mandatory. Why Work with Jan Sahas
