Job Description

Gramin Sulabh Vikas Kendra (GSVK) invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Counsellor under its HIV/AIDS Prevention & Community Health programme.

The Counsellor will provide counselling and psychosocial support to beneficiaries, facilitate referrals and treatment linkages, and support community-level HIV/AIDS prevention, awareness and follow-up activities.

Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counselling to beneficiaries.
Provide HIV/AIDS-related information, risk-reduction counselling and psychosocial support.
Facilitate appropriate HIV testing, treatment and care linkages.
Support referrals to ICTC/ART centres and other health services.
Maintain confidentiality and protect the dignity and privacy of beneficiaries.
Conduct community awareness and Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities.
Support outreach workers and peer educators in counselling and follow-up.
Maintain counselling records, registers, reports and MIS data.
Follow up with beneficiaries regarding referrals, treatment adherence and required services.
Coordinate with health facilities and relevant stakeholders as required.
Educational Qualification
Graduate/Post-Graduate in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work/MSW, or a relevant Social Science discipline.
MSW/MA Psychology/MA Sociology candidates will be preferred.
Candidates should be computer literate and able to use MS Office, email and basic digital/MIS applications.
Experience
Experience in HIV/AIDS, STI/RTI, counselling, community health, TB, harm reduction, vulnerable/high-risk populations or NGO programmes will be preferred.
Fresh candidates with the required qualification and good communication and interpersonal skills may also be considered.

Ability to work with vulnerable and marginalised communities.
Good documentation and reporting skills.
Basic computer knowledge.
Willingness to undertake field visits.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Knowledge of Hindi. Knowledge of other local languages will be an advantage.
