Sundarban Social Development Centre (SSDC) is a non-government not-for-profit organization situated at the Sundarban delta region of West Bengal, India (at the South 24 Parganas district). Since its advent as a social development organization in 1989, SSDC has been keeping itself involved for the well-being of the people living at disaster prone Sundarban island areas, which are typically identified as socio economically backward in all scenes of remoteness and poor living standard. Most of the people here poorest of the poor category, for which they are living behind the ray of modernisation and development yet. Being a registered NGO under the Society Registration Act 1961, SSDC is devoted and is working for the last 3 decades for the wellbeing of the people of South 24 Parganas district since its inception. Presently we are running several community-based development activities in the areas of Mother and Child Health, Education, Nutrition, Women Empowerment, Livelihood, Water, Sanitation, Eye health care and services including Environment Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction activities in the district of South 24 Parganas while giving special attention to the remotest Sundarban island areas.

SSDC is at present inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of “Project Manager”.

Designation: Project Manager for Agro-Entrepreneurship Project.
Project Location: Different villages in Kalimpong District, West Bengal
Period: 01.11.2026 – 31.10.2027

Job responsibilities:
Young and energetic candidate located in willing to relocate to the project location in Kalimpong district with expertise and experience in the following areas should apply:
• Implementing and managing agricultural projects with a strong focus on promoting value addition of agricultural produce and connecting these products to the market.
• Good communication skill, flair for frequent work-related travels and passion for finding innovative solutions are essential.
• Strong coordination with project staff and organizational administrative team are required.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage implementation of the project (e.g. scheduling activities, ensure satisfactory implementation of activities, etc.)
• Document project implementation following the requirements of the organisation
• Prepare the monthly narrative report, finance report and production report.
• Liaise with companies, government organizations and non-governmental organizations for promotion of agricultural products.
• Manage different administrative related task, such as material requisitions and distribution, stock maintaining, monitoring and filing bills and vouchers, ensuring compliance of the project staff, etc.

Qualification:
• Master’s degree in any relevant discipline
• Written and spoken knowledge of English, Hindi and Bengali
• Proficiency MS Office and especially Excel

Experience: Candidate must have minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Travel: Extensive field visits and work will be needed in this position. Relocation to project location in Kalimpong district required.
