About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Career Counsellor to support young people from Grade 8 onwards in understanding their strengths, interests, abilities and career options.
The Career Counsellor will work directly with young people through individual and group counselling, aptitude assessments, career exploration and exposure activities.
In addition to counselling, this role will play a key role in building OSCAR's Youth Career Readiness Programme by developing the curriculum, creating career-readiness experiences and enabling OSCAR coaches to deliver effective sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Career Counselling & Guidance:
• Conduct individual and group career counselling sessions for young people.
• Help students understand their interests, strengths, abilities and aspirations.
• Guide young people in exploring suitable education and career pathways.
• Support students in making informed decisions regarding higher education, vocational training and career opportunities.
• Maintain appropriate counselling records and track individual progress.
2. Aptitude & Career Assessments:
• Conduct and interpret aptitude, interest and career assessments.
• Help young people understand assessment results in a simple and practical manner.
• Use assessment insights to support personalised career guidance.
• Recommend suitable career and education pathways based on individual strengths and aspirations.
3. Career Readiness Programme Development:
• Design, develop and continuously improve OSCAR's Career Readiness curriculum.
• Develop age-appropriate and engaging content for students from Grade 8 onwards.
• Create practical learning experiences around career awareness, goal setting, decision-making and employability skills.
• Develop activities, resources, toolkits and session plans for coaches and young people.
• Adapt programme content based on feedback, learning outcomes and emerging career trends.
4. Coach Training & Capacity Building:
• Train and enable OSCAR coaches to facilitate career-readiness sessions.
• Develop training materials and facilitation guides for coaches.
• Conduct workshops and refresher sessions to strengthen coaches' understanding of career guidance.
• Provide ongoing support and mentoring to coaches delivering the programme.
5. Career Exposure & Partnerships:
• Build relationships with professionals, mentors, educational institutions and organisations.
• Facilitate career talks, mentorship opportunities, workplace visits and other exposure activities.
• Create opportunities for young people to interact with professionals from diverse career backgrounds.
• Support partnerships that expand education, internship, vocational training and career opportunities for young people.
6. Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact:
• Track participation, engagement and outcomes of the Career Readiness Programme.
• Maintain relevant programme and counselling data.
• Collect feedback from young people, coaches and other stakeholders.
• Analyse insights and recommend improvements to strengthen programme effectiveness.
• Document success stories, learning and impact.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education, Social Work, Human Resources, Career Guidance or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in career counselling, youth development, education, employability, learning & development or a related field.
• Experience working directly with adolescents or young people.
• Experience in curriculum development, training or programme implementation will be an advantage.
• Experience conducting aptitude/career assessments will be preferred.
• Experience working with young people from diverse or underserved communities will be an advantage.

Compensation:
