We work across India in the areas of Health & Nutrition, Education, Child Protection and Livelihood & Economic Wellbeing to facilitate quality education, healthcare, protection from harm and abuse, and opportunities for children and young people.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Skill & Livelihood Facilitator will support the implementation of skill development, career guidance, vocational training and education-to-employment interventions under the Urban Flagship Programme.
 
The role will focus on identifying and engaging adolescents and young people, assessing their interests and skill needs, facilitating access to appropriate skilling and vocational opportunities, and establishing linkages with training institutes, government schemes, employers and other relevant stakeholders.
 
The position will contribute to improving employability, career readiness and livelihood opportunities for young people, while ensuring that interventions are inclusive, age-appropriate, safe and aligned with the needs of the urban community.
SCOPE OF ROLE
Scope: Skill development, career guidance, vocational linkages, employability and livelihood support for adolescents and young people.
 
Reports to: Project Lead – Urban Flagship Programme
 
Staff reporting to this post: None
 
Budget Responsibilities: No direct budget responsibility; support activity planning, utilisation tracking, documentation and reporting as assigned.
 
Role Dimensions: Career guidance, skill facilitation, youth mobilisation, vocational linkages, employer engagement, documentation and reporting.
 
Context: Integrated urban programming for children, adolescents and young people under the Urban Flagship Programme.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate/Post Graduate in Social Work, Sociology, Rural Development, Development Studies, Management, Vocational Education, Skill Development or any other relevant discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • Relevant certification in career counselling, skill development, vocational training or youth development will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in skill development, livelihood promotion, career counselling, youth development, vocational training or Programme implementation.

The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
 
CHILD SAFEGUARDING (Strike out whichever is not applicable)
 
Level 1: The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.
 
Level 2: Either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, Legal etc.); therefore a police check will be required.
 
Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programs; or are visiting programs; therefore a police check will be required.
