1. Background:
The SBC section is using applied behaviour science for social and behaviour change and is undertaking several evidence generation activities at the national and state levels. Behaviour Science led research is underway in different thematic areas as per the needs of the programmes. In-house secondary research and analysis is conducted as per the needs of the different states – eg secondary research on push and pull factors for secondary education for MP; analysis of SBC approaches that work for antenatal care Rajasthan and so on. Five hehavioural Insights Units have been facilitated with state government and academic partners in Rajasthan, Telangana, Assam, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. These units lead intervention design and field testing. There are plans to advocate for scale up of the tested interventions.
SBC section and network have been working on system strengthening across sectors since the start of the country programme. A knowledge management strategy and action plan has been developed. A template for documenting lessons learned of Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) programmes that strengthen systems has been developed to capture, in a concise manner, how UN ORGANISATION is embedding SBC into government systems and strengthening systems for sustained impact. Some state experiences have been documented and more are to be initiated and completed.
